But what university is worth a potential lawsuit at this juncture? (BTW/FYI - this has been a fascinating thread to read; lots of great back-and-forth and food for thought. Just sayin'...)
did the big 10 and pac 10 make the big xii members sign these waivers last year? sorta makes you wonder what they're worried about.
No why would they? nobody threatened to sue them if they left. Why would BU threaten to sue? If you are owed your money then just do it! (Yelling from behind my bunker door)
not really. regardless of baylor's current viability (which is better than some of you are giving them credit for), the fact is they are a part of a conference that signed a tv contract that assures them ~$15million annually. and that contract can now be voided. they would be dumber than corky on crack to waive that.
Yeah, that started to come to light as I was in Word perfecting my totally awesomest-ever response... I didn't say this initially - but I don't begrudge Baylor, or any other school, (potentially) suing to protect its own financial interests. I was merely trying to shine a light on the Aggie POV. They were proactive. Baylor (et al) is being reactive. *That's* what's chapping the hyde right now, me thinks.
No, but that's a timing issue. This conference righly could have (likely) survived their defections. They can't survive a third defection, though.
but because of what was said earlier the only reason they are bothered by it is because they are not worth it. Tamu does not mind losing the contract... Neither does UT / OU / Ok st / Tech etc because they feel like they are actually worth it and know someone else will give them the money in a more stable situation. BU knows they can't get it because they have cashed checks over the last 15 years rather than proactively building a better athletic program Which is why Ric is dead on.
yeah, still waiting to see what that means....what the hell is an assurance not to sue without a waiver? just a friendly side comment? "hey, i'm not gonna sign this waiver that keeps me from suing you...but i pinkie promise not to really sue you." interested to see what the Big 12's statement reads like.
What's an "aggy"? I absolutely think A&M is kicking itself for not jumping last year. I think they got gun-shy, and rightly so - what they're doing is a MASSIVE undertaking, for a lot of different reasons. I don't think giving it time to simmer, while UT continued to kick the hornet's nest, is anything they need to apolgize for.
and what baylor, et. al. are doing now, protecting their interests, is nothing to apologize for either.
In the reply you quoted name one time you saw the word waiver? I am talking about BU shortsightedness and you are talking about the waiver... like I said before I don't care if the SEC gets sued or TAMU. TAMU will be playing in the SEC one way or another I just wonder what BU did with all of their apparently oh so coveted BIG 12 money over the last 15 years because it def did not go towards the athletic programs.
Ok, that made me laugh. I Refuse to believe that the schools who are best suited to align themselves in a super conference is a coincidence. Sorry Baylor & Iowa state, the writing is on the wall.
the only thing BU is doing here is with respect to the waiver...SEC is saying without that waiver from all 9 schools, they're not allowing A&M in. so all the focus on BU is misplaced...there are 8 other schools saying they're not willing to sign that waiver at this point.
I actually think an insistence on a formal, in-person, apology, from the Commandant of the Corps of Cadets and the bowtied president guy, to be delivered at the 50 yard line of Floyd Casey stadium, in return for the claim release would provide a clean break for all parties.
No, of course not. I said I don't begrudge them; I agree 100%. The Aggie POV, though, is that if your program was viable, you would proactively protect your interests, not reactively try and stop someone else's proactivity. Go save the Big 12! Go jump on UT's coattails! Create your own super conference! Do something other than block our progress - that sort of thing.
