Is this potentially coming to an end? I'm hearing UT,OSU,OU,TTU to the pac 12 almost done... I hate the big 12 is done but glad Tech got their deserved seat ....
If they got their deserved seat, they'd be in the MWC with their peer schools like Colorado State, New Mexico, and UNLV.
I believe it -the rankings bear it out if you don't belive me; kids who were too dumb/lazy/drunk to get into Texas or Texas A&M generally settled for Tech or UH when I was in HS. It doesn't appear that much has changed in that regard.
Don't leave out my alma mater - SWTSU, well, we were probably too drunk anyway, or ...OR...we just knew there were more girls there than guys.... DD
Did you see how many UT alumni traveled to LA? The Rose Bowl is pretty sweet There some pretty good golf courses in Arizona. Wins in beautiful Bolder again, seafood in Seattle.
If UT got that deal then I have to hand it to the UT leaders because that is amazing ... However Katz, Staples, and others are reporting tonight that the Pac12 is not a done deal and the Pac presidents are not really overjoyed with that LHN deal and may want it fully pooled along with all the other regional networks. If they can get it, then good for them. Cant imagine USC being happy with that deal at all though
You know everyone always says this, but I went to the Rose Bowl for the Gold Cup final and it seemed like a freaking dump to me. I dont get the fascination with it and if you have anyone remotely overweight near you, you will only get about half a seat.
Rose Bowl and that part of LA as a destination is a dump. You go if your team is in the game and for the parade and stuff. No reason I see fans travelling out of state for a regular season game there. Bowl game makes sense, but driving around LA is utterly pointless most of the time much less around NYD.
I would like to thank... A&M for starting this chaos. OU for standing their ground on the Pac12. UCLA for helping to get both John Mackovic and Greg Davis fired. The ACC for being proactive and raiding before they got raided. I love the ACC's move from their perspective. They were a conference that was in danger of getting poached by the SEC and maybe the Big10. Instead of sitting and waiting for that to happen (see Big12-2), they went out and got 2 and maybe 4 schools that fit them culturally and academically. They weren't going to wait on Texas and leave their conference hanging - and along with bumping up exit fees, they've established themselves as one of the conferences that will survive and remain healthy. In all the talk the last month or two, no one ever talked about the ACC, but they proved to be the most proactive of the bunch.
There were at least 20,000 Longhorn fans in the stadium on Saturday, and from my anecdotal experience both at the game and at the airport, quite a few of them were from out of town. Many of them seem to have just made a vacation out of it - it's not like you're stuck in one small part of the city the whole time you're there. The Texas Exes also had a massive party outside of the stadium on the park grounds. There were several thousand people there and it dwarfed all the UCLA tailgates, though to be fair, UCLA apparently hasn't started yet, so a lot of the students weren't around.
LOL. I hope the fantastic 4 make it to the Pac-16 before TAMU makes it to the SEC. That'd be a trip. A sick, twisted, mind-numbing trip.
So if UT get's to keep the LHN they get to keep the revenue but must show Pac 12 stuff on it? I'm confused? I guess they care mroe about keeping all the $$ than controlling the content?
so tired of this. get every university president in a ring somewhere and have a royal rumble to decide it.
saw this on another site. Not sure if you youngins remember the oregon trail game, but this is "Tech on the Oregon trail". lmao
You have to have a subscription to read this...I don't, but it was posted at baylorfans.com. http://www.wacotrib.com/registratio...g-East-Big-12-discussing-possible-merger.html Source: Big East, Big 12 discussing possible merger By John Werner Tribune-Herald staff writer Monday September 19, 2011 Big 12 and Big East schools have discussed the possibility of combining leagues if Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech leave for the Pac-12, a source with knowledge of the situation said. With Syracuse and Pitt leaving for the ACC, the Big East will be down to six schools that play FBS football, including Connecticut, Louisville, Cincinnati, South Florida, West Virginia and Rutgers. TCU is scheduled to join the Big East from the Mountain West next season. The five remaining Big 12 schools — Baylor, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State — could join with them to form a 12-team league. However, some of the remaining Big 12 and Big East schools could leave for other leagues like the ACC or SEC if they decide on further expansion. Both the Big 12 and Big East are automatic BCS qualifying conferences. It might be in the best interest for the Big East teams to join the Big 12 since the remaining Big 12 teams could collect larger exit fees from teams leaving the league.
