Lots of twitter traffic from insiders saying the SEC wants A&M to get its house in order an "apply" when they are ready and the SEC will then make the decision Of course we all know how accurate twitter insiders are That said, maybe the best option is to go indy for 1 year and then figure out where to go once out of the Big12 ... That one year would be rough though
From the info that I have gathered, the SEC can't send A&M an invitation, otherwise they would be sued by the Big 12 for tampering. IMO, the statement today from the SEC was to protect themselves legally. This way when A&M applies and is approved, the SEC can say that the A&M initiated everything.
I am being honest with myself. Most of the posts that I'm reading from what I believe to be Longhorns are comments like A&M is going to get killed and UT will be fine regardless. The conference as a whole may not be fine without A&M, but even then, most of the comments from what I believe to be Longhorns think the conference will be fine as long as OU stays. And the vast majority of Longhorns that I know don't give a flying **** what A&M does. We do think it's dumb though. Personally, I would love to see UH in the Big 12 (Houston resident).
That's exactly what I was thinking..I mean, releasing statements might cover their asses publicly, but we all know IF this goes to court, it will more than likely get really nasty with all kinds of info coming out, and if info like that does exist, it would make the SEC think twice. Also, not saying ESPN is the most reliable source, especially on this matter, but I wouldn't be surprised if A&M is legitly stunned at no invite..Before all this, most sources were saying SEC just has to vote yes for TAMU then TAMU goes to SEC, done deal. Obviously the treat of lawsuits, etc, has made it more complicated. But it just makes it clear that SEC is hesitant and theres more and more pressure on A&M; which is a very bad thing.
I'd love to read reactions on Aggie message boards right about now, to see if they think the "diss" is real or a front. Too bad all of them are pay sites.
Completely agree with you ... There is no doubt that this was not the initial pla ... Why call an emergency meeting on a Sunday to do nothing ... There is definitely some second guessing on the SEC side and they may want to wait weeks before formally deciding anything regarding A&M if we do "apply" later this week
Texags.com is the biggest and has a large free board ... Most are now on the side of legal posturing, but we all know that we generally believe what we hope to be true and ignore the rest
while i should let the lawyer that has completely schooled this thread comment, it seems to me this would go beyond what is basically a semantics argument (apply as opposed to invite).
Texags is the Aggie message board and it not pay site except for one forum on the board. None of the other boards count.
The above via TAMU Athletics Facebook page... Their Facebook page has -- A. been accurate with their reporting. B. been ahead of the curb with their info. C. the reporting is pretty direct, they aren't afraid to make controversial statements.
Link? I'm looking at http://www.facebook.com/AggieAthletics and don't see it but maybe its a diff page
