Baylor has done nothing useful for itself. OU is and always has been on their own timetable. They just waited, no commenting to see how things went down, saw UT doesn't give a crap, and decided to bounce.

Keeping TAMU from "officially" being in the SEC does nothing. They will be playing there in a year. Keeping that from being finalized does nothing to change OU's mind.

You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. I think we have to reserve judgement before all of this plays itself out.

Arent you the same one who will then back up someone for being "on top" laughing all the way to the bank while others without the success and vision "gonna hate"?

The "non-arrogance" stance seems hollow. Do the successful ones get the say-so benefits from their position or dont they?

Guess again. I find it funny I have to reserve my judgement in a 120+ page thread.

While I find your argument is incorrect - Just because someone is allowed to do something stupid does not make the decision anything but stupid.

I agree with the general premise, it is looking like the Big 12 goofed.

What "stuff" do you expect to leak (or happen)?

I disagree completely here. I'm allowed to do all sorts of things. I can go around telling everyone they are idiots. But then I shouldn't be surprised or complain when they don't want to be my friends.

Texas boxed itself into a corner. It pushed the limits - and it had every right to do that. But that doesn't change that it annoyed fellow conference members, and led them to take actions that aren't in Texas' best interests. Bottom line is that we know with pretty decent certainty that Texas' preferences are:

    1. Keep the Big9 together + BYU
    2. Head to the Pac16 w/ the LHN (this was their first choice last year if the Big12 imploded, so without the LHN, this was clearly their favorite)
    3. Head to the Big10 w/ the LHN with OU
    4. Head to the ACC w/ the LHN w/ OU & OSU
    5. Head to the ACC w/ the LHN w/ some combo of Baylor, Tech, KU, KSU, MU
    6. Head to the Pac16 w/o the LHN

From all appearances thus far, Texas' decision to do what it could has eliminated their 3 top options. We're not really sure the order of option #4 vs #6 and that's what we'll learn in the coming days. But regardless, it was Texas' choice to embark on the path it did and as several of us said last year, the ultimate endgame of the Big12 dying was inevitable, whether instigated by Texas or not. Where UT may have miscalculated is assuming (a) they could keep the Big12 together and (b) the Pac10/Big10 would cave and allow the LHN.

Now UT will have to decide whether the money/publicity is worth losing the regional "rivals" (Tech, OSU, A&M) and the fantastic conference rivalry with OU that's made that game much more meaningful the last decade.

whatever OU is gonna do. if, as chip reported, all the regents already agree they're heading to the Pac12, I can't believe that hasn't broken already somewhere else. one way or the other, we'll start getting an idea of what their plans are this weekend, i bet.

"It was Texas' decision" means "it was Texas's action".
Texas wanted everything for itself, that's how we got here.

    1) It's best for UT to stay the top dog at Big 12.
    2) It's best for OU to stay 2nd top dog at Big 12. They are not going to be 2nd anywhere else.
    3) Other schools are not that important. If 1, 2 leave, they can be replaced. It's harder if all of them leave but I don't think they get much for leaving .

OU and other schools are posturing to get Texas to give them something and they will probably get it.
Since that is best for everyone involved, I'd bet that the Big12 will survive with 1 or 2 schools replacing A&M.

There are 100+ pages on this thread, I didn't read them all. Did you say anything important?

You can say this hundred more times, it doesn't make it true.
