I don't know yet. The renters are about out. I'll have to assess it's condition and see what the going rates are. I imagine it'll be trashed after each football weekend if I go that route, lol.
I live in Houston. I want to be a landlord in Houston but I cant crunch the numbers since I prefer a place inside the loop. I have no idea what the overall market in CS is like right now but I got a place that's increased in value by over 50% (current appraisal versus paid). It was super affordable. I updated it myself which obviously helped a lot but the biggest factor was when the surrounding area (off University going towards 6, not campus) exploded with businesses and developments in a short time. Also, unlike attractive neighborhoods in Houston, the HOA is under $100. It was worth it, but I'm not sure the variables are the same anymore. I doubt they are actually.
R. Bowen Loftin stepping down as president While chancellor John Sharp has announced a national search to replace Loftin, early speculation has already centered on Gov. Rick Perry, an Aggie who recently announced he, too, was stepping down, potentially becoming A&M’s next leader.
That would be a terrible decision for A&M. Perry is a polarizing figure and I seriously doubt that he would have had the foresight to make the move to the SEC. A&M needs to find somebody who can continue the type of leadership Loftin has provided.
Gates is available again isn't he? I Want a progressive President, I want the President that would have at last looked to the Pac 12. Give me that guy.
I DOUBT its going to be Perry. You know its sad when so many students and pretty much all of the faculty hates one of the most prominent alumni in Texas. No way they accept him here.
They should get Annise Parker, that'll show those Aggies. It'll also hopefully make the strip clubs more fun again here in Houston.
I was a supporter of the potential move to the PAC. I have long ago admitted I was wrong. The move to the SEC has allowed us to offer something different in recruiting, and we have been able to forge our own identity. The A&M brand would not be as strong as what it is right now had we stayed with our friends in Austin and Lubbock. Not to mention the fact that we would have had unequal revenue sharing again due to the LHN. Again, I wanted the PAC 16 at the time. However, in hindsight, Loftin got it right.
And I agree 100%. I was wrong, and I even knew it at the time because the logistics of traveling that much ground was just unrealistic. I wanted the Pac 16 because it would have been a progressive move. Something very un-Aggie-like. TAMU was made for the SEC, but the Pac 16 included branching into new territory, joining more liberal schools, better academics, the chance for a great basketball conference and the ability to rival the SEC. I also wanted super conferences. Oh well. When the SEC move became a reality the 2nd time around I was all for it. The Big 12 was always my last choice.
FWIW. http://rumorsandrants.com/2013/07/exclusive-johnny-manziel-sent-home-from-manning-camp.html Exclusive: Johnny Manziel sent home from Manning Camp July 13, 2013 – 11:07 pm by admin The maturation of Johnny Football continues to be a labor-intensive process. Our boots on the ground in Thibodaux, La. — believe it or not, we have them — informed us that Johnny Manziel was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy on Saturday afternoon by Archie Manning himself. Our source, who wishes to remain anonymous because of his connection to the camp, gave us the scoop after Manziel showed up tardy Saturday afternoon after being out on the town Friday night. The Texas A&M star reportedly enjoyed himself a little too much Friday night and rolled back into the camp at Nicholls State University some time around noon Saturday before getting the boot. Manziel was supposed to participate in the “Air It Out” competition along with other top collegiate passers Saturday evening. He didn’t. Camp officials told local media that Manziel “is sick” and was no longer at the camp. But our source claims he was kicked out at the behest of Manning paterfamilias Archie. Granted, if Manziel was hungover as hell, the official party line of being sick might not even qualify as a little white lie. But unless he mysteriously ate some bad etoufee, it appears this illness was brought about by some behavioral choices. Our friends at Busted Coverage found some pictures of Manziel and Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron hanging out Thursday night with Peyton and Eli Manning. Apparently Manziel wound up taking things a bit too far on Friday night as well. This is just the latest story about the offseason off-the-field antics of Manziel, which are best categorized as “Bobby Layne-esque.” As guys who did plenty of dumb stuff during college, we can certainly empathize with the concept of letting a kid be a kid. But the playbook changes a bit when you have won the Heisman Trophy. And it changes even more when you are at a camp run by the First Family of NFL quarterbacks. If Manziel pissed off the Mannings, you can bet it will not reflect well in the eyes of NFL scouts. It would appear Archie wanted to teach the kid a lesson, but not embarrass him by publicly explaining why he wasn’t present Saturday night. Manziel better take the message to heart if he doesn’t want to end up just another Heisman winner who couldn’t hack it when he got to the NFL. Already this summer Manziel railed against living in College Station because of a parking ticket, after that incident, reports surfaced that he almost transferred away from Texas A&M before the 2012 season. Back in January Manziel felt comfortable taking pictures of himself with a ton of cash at a casino and he has sat courtside at a few NBA games. The kid is clearly loving the spotlight, maybe a little too much. This latest incident might be the most troubling though. *Several members of the Rumors and Rants staff contributed to this report UPDATE: If Manziel was so “sick” Saturday morning that he had to leave the camp, he has apparently made a miraculous recovery. According to Twitter, he was out on the town in College Station late on Saturday night: UPDATE No. 2: Since our original report we have talked to several other sources who were in attendance at the camp and they have confirmed that Manziel definitely was not sick despite what was reported to local media. They have also confirmed that he missed several meetings Saturday morning without informing anyone that he would not be able to attend. Most people at the camp assume he simply slept through them. When he did show up around noon, Archie Manning pulled him aside and a short time later he was asked to leave.
I wouldn't draft him. All this partying will ensure that he doesn't maximize his potential. Drinking like this is not good for the body or work ethic. We all know how much we dread hitting the gym after a day/night of drinking.
http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=9477018&src=desktop nothing to see here, leave the kid alone people
That may be a bit premature and harsh, but he's been a well-known prick/jackass/moron going way back to his early days at Tivy, not shocking that maybe some of the success may have gone to his head. Even the Kerrville boosters just kind of roll their eyes and/or shrug their shoulders when you ask about him. Hell of a football player though.
