I agree that Tech is never going to get the talent that UT gets, but there's so much talent in Texas, that even if they don't get a few blue chips, they'll be fine if they can steal some away from aggy, OSU, etc.

Just look at the receiver crop in this year's recruiting class. There's so much talent and you don't really know if #2 is that much better than #10. For example, UT wanted Jenkins, Holmes, and some others, but there's just not enough spots. Jenkins goes to Tech, Holmes goes to OU. If Tech gets Harrell from Ennis (who'll rewrite the TX passing records easily), they'll have another good QB to perfectly fit the system. They'll continue to be dangerous as long as Leach or whoever is running that offense. And it'll be very scary if they hire a good D coordinator.

What's pretty funny though is that Tech couldn't send letters last year because they didn't have enough money for postage.

You know how the coaches send letters to recruits? Well the letters were never sent unknowingly because they didn't have money to pay for postage.

With Coach Leach I'm not sure if they need the top recruits on the offensive side of the ball. The only team that offered Wes Welker a scholarship was Texas Tech. Now hes 1Td on PR from breaking the ncaa all time record. he was not thought of highly by anybody now hes one of the best playmakers in the country. Leach is great at finding players that run his system to perfection. It'd be nice if they could get the top recievers and qbs in the nation like UT and aTm. But I cant imagine Tech playing better on the offensive side of the ball regradless of who they had. As long as they have Coach Leach here whom I believe is the best offensive mind in college football than I dont think they need to recruit BIG on the offensive side of the ball to continue to put points on the board.
But I'd have to think that alot of QBS around the country would want to play in a offense like this. Eventually I would think they could get 1 of the top recruits at the QB posistion.

Defense is another story, they need some new coaches or something cuz whatever theyre doing right now is not working. But I guess you have to give this defense more time they have a very young defense

We do keep them there. And who the hell cares if it is or isnt the best place to live - Lubbock is 10X better than College Station or Waco. That and you managed to avoid my question of why you think West Texas sucks for football recruiting. Ive already made references to how it doesnt.

How do you know? Once again..... have you been to Lubbock to see our new facilites? My guess is no.

How do you know? What are your sources? Tech has every bit a chance at becoming a powerhouse school like UT or A&M. When is the last time A&M sold out anything that wasnt football?? Our women's basketball team is constantly top 15, mens hoops is gradually getting better with Bobby Knight - not to mention sellouts for these games on a consistent basis. Year after year our baseball team is ranked in the top 25 as well.

And how the hell will it never be as good of a school? How do you draw up such conclusions??? We are the youngest school in the country to have a law school, medical school, pharmacy school, and architecture school.

Tech recruits tons of talent from the DFW area (the largest metro area in the state and a 4 1/2 hour drive to Lubbock) so I dont buy that. The same can be said from towns like San Angelo, Abeline, Midland/Odessa, Amarillo, El Paso, and eastern New Mexico to name a few.

Tech probably will get Graham Harrell from Ennis. His HS runs a similar type of offense that's let him put up crazy numbers. He'll easily break the all-time TX HS passing records. Harrell is considered a pretty highly ranked prospect.

Welker wasn't a nobody if you read his profile. He was OK state player of the year and preseason all america.

Regardless of that, there is plenty of talent in Texas to go around and you really don't know if there is more than a marginal difference between most of the top 10 receivers in the state. Tech gets some of those and gets some other decent midgets and their offense will continue to roll.

It isnt final yet but Tech seems to have a great recruiting class coming to Lubbock. Hopefully some of these guys can play defense. And they wont change their minds after the back to back embarassing losses.
