Jamarcus Russel says he'll sign for a pint of Codiene Cough Syrup, 2 styrofoam cups and a original DJ Screw grey tape.

They're a lot more desperate for the experience now. I'm guessing Clemens was the guy a week ago because he'd be least likely to rock the boat as a No. 3. Veteran types like Garcia/Delhomme would probably want a spot on the active roster for it to be worth their while.

Good question. My guess is they'll say they were doing their "due diligence" or such. It's the only thing I can think of that makes sense, given today's news that the Garcia/Delhomme winner will be No. 2 and Clemens (last week's "winner") will remain No. 3.

Maybe Garcia simply had a good agent that got him a workout, now the Texans actually need the experience.

but they would be signing him to jump ahead of the guy who beat him out last week? all very bizarre.

Yeah, I think the scenario changes when you're talking about a 3rd stringer vs a potential starter.

I think after last week's workouts, they decided Yates would be number two and the signee would be 3rd/scout team. Clemens was more suited and probably cheaper to sign as a scout team guy.

Not they are looking for a backup, which is a more suitable role for Garcia/Delhomme.

I hear Culpepper is in shape. I wouldnt mind adding him and Garcia (cutting Clemens) just to see if they could get anything out of em.

It's Delhomme that signed, per Adam Schefter.

Garcia must not have anything left in the tank. Peter King said he wasn't impressive in last week's tryout, and apparently wasn't today, either. His UFL numbers from last year (I know, I know) were pretty bad, too. Guess he's washed up.

Kudos, you called it! One nit, picked: that does not *beg* the question, it *raises* the question.
