Brooks got an extra year + one million more.

    5/40 - 8M
    4/28 - 7M

I can see them going with XSF at C, and possibly using both Newton and Allen at OG. Draft a RT in the 1st.

If they reported it as 4 yrs 28 mil, 18 mil guaranteed, it wouldn't look weird. Maybe this is typical? (I don't know what the guaranteed # is...it's just 14 mil at least based on the info we have so far)

Trust me, out with the old and in with the new. The anchor has always been Duane & will probably never be pro bowl caliber again. We can slowly build that in the draft. Groom them.

We have a new QB, RB, 1 OL. This offense will start learning together on day 1. I don't mind this at all & I'm usually against any Texans moves.

It won't be a $14MM cap hit. He'll probably have a $8MM signing bonus which is spread out (so $2MM cap hit) plus a $5MM base for a $7MM cap hit.

So effectively we downgraded the O line for 1 million in savings.

    I would say...yes.

I think you gotta keep your own. You develop them, you then gotta sign/extend them. Jones, fine, I guess you replace him in the draft? Brooks, get it done!

But right as the Osweiler news broke, it's like Philly was negotiating with Brooks and then BAM! They got him.

I'm okay with Miller but not okay signing Miller and taking the hit here. You keep Brooks and diversify your RB portfolio with high ceiling prospects.

Miller & Allen 4 Brooks is a net loss.

I agree that I'd have rather kept Brooks

But your equation is completely wrong. Miller & Allen is miles ahead of Brooks + pu-pu platter led by a Bilal Powell or 4th round pick RB

The season doesn't start tomorrow. The draft is where we will go OL in the first or second. Get a weapon like Fuller in the first and draft OL in the second.

    Brooks > Allen IMO

If Allen plays like he did last year, then it is a wash... I just question Allen's ability against players athletically more talented than him. Allen also had been very mediocre before last season.

Brandon Brooks was 17 on that list. Hopefully the drop off isn't that much.

But they're both 26. It's not weird to have a player improve and "get it" at this point, right? I think if we were talking about a QB who was below-par his first 2 years, injured his 3rd, and then well above-avg in his 4th, we'd say "he gets it now"
