Ouch, that one was brutal. But how can you say we should of lost the miami game? it was the first game of the season.

i don't know about that; it was certainly an improvement over the 2002 version, but it still has some issues. i don't think the texans should enter the draft thinking "we need to do this, or that" reaching to fill needs in the salary cap era is a receipe for disaster.

Guys take it from someone who has followed Miami Hurricane football for 20 years:

Sean Taylor is the best player to ever come out of that school. Period. He will be twice the safety that Ed Reed of Baltimore is and Ed is a hoss.

I would like to see the Texans grab ST but I have a feeling he will get snatched up around pick 5 or 6.

Don't count out Vince Willfork, who moves exceptionally well considering that he is 330+.

FYI - Mel Kiper's top 6 as of last night (didn't take into account that Chris Gamble had declared):

    1 - Eli Manning
    2 - Roy Williams
    3 - Ben Roethlisberger
    4 - Robert Gallery
    5 - Sean Taylor
    6 - Kellen Winslow II

the offense isnt "fine". It sucks. The defense appears bad because its time on the field is outragous. The reason the D is tired is because stupid Palmer and Miller and the O line cant do their jobs and its 3 and out,3 and out,3 and out over and over and over..............

The offense will continue to grow. Carr, Davis and Johnson is a hell of a good start. IMO, the Texans need to address two main issues:

Help on the O-line. Maybe one good player to anchor.
Help in the secondary. As most suggested, Taylor would help to solve that problem.

The Texans are on pace to make great progress.

I think it's more like 350+ now. I like Wilfork, but the guy seems to be putting on 20 lbs every year. Even if he is fat he will still be at least a Gilbert Brown type, but is that 10th pick worthy? I'm not sure.

Why isn't Miami playing in the National Championship game? They're going to have five 1st round picks this year.

    Sean Taylor
    Vince Wilfork
    Kellen Winslow Jr.
    DJ Williams
    Jonathan Vilma

The offense does not "suck". Did you watch any of the games this year or are you just repeating what the idiotic callers say on the post game show?

The offense has the necessary weapons to break out at any moment. However, the wqoe that continues to go on is the offensive line. Yes, there were not as bad as last year, but they are not giving Carr enough time.

Watching an incredible OL like Green Bay's and Indianapolis' makes hope that the Texans address the OL depth issue through free agency , and not the draft.

IMO the Texans need to address defense with the first to or three picks, unless a can't miss offensive prospect presents themselves at the Texans' draft position.

If Robert Gallery of Iowa is still there at 10 we will take him.

I'm hoping for either Gallery or Taylor

Just think those players were on the championship team in 2001 with Ed Reed, McGahee,Portis,Shockey,Rumph,Buchcanon,Joseph,
Andre Johnson,Davenport,Parrish,Payton,Mcdougle,Mckinney, and Sikes. Thats unbelievable when you think about. That has to be the most talented team ever put together in college football. Not just college talent but NFL talent.

I really like Taylor but if Gallery is there you take him. A good LT is a much harder position to fill then S. Alot of people have talked about adding a LT through FA, but good LT's rarely make it to FA because teams never let them go.

The wild card in this whole thing is Henson and if he can be traded for something.

Could someone tell me what the big deal about Gamble is? I've never been impressed.

Sean Taylor...Why do you think he is THAT good? Safeties aren't normally taken that early. I've seen a few Miami games and he's impressive, but you've probably seen all of his games, so what's the scouting report ?

Also, what are some of the best FREE draft sites? For scouting reports and possibly video clips?

fwiw, my thinking is the defense needs playmakers and man, oh man.... as much as taylor fits that mold, i have a feeling derrick strait is going to be roy williams on the corner. good god, he's impressive. i have no clue if he's worthy of the the 10 pick, but, i'm telling you, as i said in 1991 about david klingler, that guy looks like a no-doubt-about-it stud.

Every time I watch a OU game I come away impressed with Derrick Strait. I'm usually watching for Tommie Harris to impress me but it's always Strait that catches my eye. I would love to see the Texans trade down and take Strait over Hall or Gamble.

Another player who I'm very impressed with is Jonathan Vilma. He may be small, 6-1 220 lbs, but he is going to be the best LB to come out of the draft. He has natural LB instincts and is exceptionally quick getting to the ball. While I don't think he will be as good as Ray Lewis, he is the player that he reminds me of.

Okay I can see taking Taylor...but Strait? I really like watching defensive backs, and although I haven't watched tape on him like you might have, he just didn't seem that impressive either. I am very critical though when it comes to secondary play.

Don't get me started on Tommie Harris. Hype...He does have alot of speed for his position, but hype...

I'm hoping Tommie Harris is still around when we pick, he sounds to me like he would be the perfect fit for DE in the 3-4. He sounds like he can provide pressure from the line something we lacked last year. Him Payne and Walker would be nice to see and I think that right there would go along way to getting us back to being one of the top defensive units in the league.

Taylor also sounds nice and I wouldn't mind seeing him picked come draft day, however everything I've seen seems like both these guys may be gone by the time we pick.

Just curious how would you guys rank these prospects in the order you'd like to see them in a Texan uniform next season.

DT - TOMMIE HARRIS - OKLAHOMA
    S - SEAN TAYLOR - MIAMI
OT - SHAWN ANDREWS - ARKANSAS
DT - VINCE WILFORK - MIAMI
OT - ROBERT GALLERY - IOWA
OLB - DERRICK JOHNSON - TEXAS
CB - DERRICK STRAIT - OKLAHOMA
TE - KELLEN WINSLOW - MIAMI
WR - ROY WILLIAMS - TEXAS

Factor in the two QBs Manning and Roethlisberger and Fitzgerald out of Pittsburgh who I think will all be gone before the Texan picks which is good because these aren't real need positions for us and I think we will get a shot at one of the players I listed above.

I will be bummed out if they take Wilfork. From what I've seen, he looks like a one dimensional player who takes a lot of downs off and will be in danger of eating his way out of the league. If he didn't go to Miami, I don't think anybody would mention him as a top pick, sort of the "Michael Rumph" effect.

no tape watching here, just tivo... :)

my exposure to him is limited, but when i've seen him, like shady, he's caught my eye; big and physical, always around the ball. i don't have it in front of me, but his stat line sunday night was really impressive while checking (and holding in check) a pretty decent receiver.
