I was most looking forward to the second (and third) team offense not looking incompetent, but oh well...

Slaton as an inbetween tackles runner, bleh. Slaton as a pass catching back from the backfield, good as usual.

Then suddenly Slaton gets a good run but it was to the outside.

He's had a couple of good runs but more mediocre ones thus far.

EDIT: And then there's that ugly ass fumble.

I need to find a Texans bar here in San Diego. :(

Sounds like the first team looked to be in midseason form. Guess Gary was right to play Mario.

He may be healthy and he might have lost the weight he put on before last season, but it looks like he still has his fumbling issues. If this indicative of his current level of play, then things look good for Foster and Tate.

Was there anything from Slaton's rookie year that made the Texans think he'll be a good inbetween tackles tough yardage back? My memory is hazy on his rookie season.

Slaton was really running the ball well that drive but unfortunately finishes it with a fumble.

He was more effective outside the tackles but he wasn't too shabby between them either and was surprisingly able to move guys and drive hard for extra yardage.

I really dislike over-analyzing preseason games, but it's hard not to get down on Steve Slaton with his showing so far. I defended him all offseason saying that he had shed the weight that slowed him down last season and that his nerve issue had been a bigger problem than he had first let on.

Just tuned in when Slaton fumbled earlier. How have the other RBs been doing, did Slaton just lose his job?

Foster, who looked good playing with the first team, was already projected ahead of Slaton.

Foster looked good and Slaton didn't look awful but those fumbles will finish him.
