If that's what it takes to bring the Super Bowl here then do it. Some of ya'll sound like you're still running tube TV's and Betamax players.

Reliant is used for Final Four, College games, High School games, Rodeo and NFL.

When can we upgrade that eyesore of a convention center though?

Well, sticking one in Dallas' eye is always something I can get behind.

Question is, are they going to extend the videoboards lower than they are now? Because having two really long and narrow video boards sounds really lame. If they extend them too far down, they will block the view of the 700 level (suckers in the "president's club", lulz).

I believe they are going to get rid of the advertising on top of the current videoboards so that they aren't as narrow as they are now, but it still seems like they would have to hang down to be that big.

I'm assuming only one of them will be that huge, and maybe the other one will be about the current size or a little bigger. They didn't address that in the tweet but I don't know of any stadium that has two massive videoboards.

There's not a lot of advertising on top of the actual videoboards.

I get the feeling the majority of these boards are gonig to be used to run ads, just like that space is now.

My goodness! Just for speculation, Cowboys stadium has their scoreboard hang from the 30 yard line, to the opposite 30 yard line, which is 180 ft wide. A 747 has a wingspan of between 195 ft. and 224 ft. I'm guessing they go with 195. Now, an NFL field is 160 ft wide. If you include the sideline area, it is around 200 ft wide. This new scoreboard would be almost the width of the entire field area plus the sidelines. That is insane.

If you look at the video board area now, I imagine they will just use that entire area, and perhaps build up as high as they can without interfering with the retractable roof that they never use. I wonder if they would consider removing the Reliant Stadium logo to make more room?

EDIT- My guess is they take up all the space between the HEB and Methodist ad in this pic. Meaning, everything from the Ford ad, to the Coca Cola ad will be the new scoreboard. That keeps a few permanent ads, while dwarfing the current scoreboard. Not to mention HD replays and updates.

Naw, I'd imagine that there won't be any 'static' ads. The new screens will likely come with a new dedicated production studio. Ads will probably become incorporated with the visual presentation. ie: The Bud Light Action Replay, Gallery Furniture Score Update, etc...

You're far less cynical than I am.

If it's anything like the Rockets, it will be impressive.

Too bad it can't be centerhung.

The current scoreboard is 96.5' x 24'. If they plan on doing the "wingspan of a 747," that would essentially be doubling the size of the current scoreboard. This thing might end up around 200' x 50'. Absolutely insane.

    52.49' (H)* x* 277.17' (W)

That's the size is going to be.

^ They're gonna squish the aspect ratio down to fit more stuff on the screen and make the players look like fat little dwarfs :)
