http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/20330158/hi-def-scoreboards-at-reliant-stadium-up-for-a-vote McNair wants more taxes to cover a new scoreboard to try to get the Superbowl again. No thanks.
pretty much- I'd rather have those taxes fund more important things than screens in a stadium that help no one but Texans. Millionaire McNair can pay for it himself if he wants it that badly.
Yea, the end zone screens/scoreboards at LP field are something in person. - I always thought Reliant had better big screens than what they have some reason...
This venue is how many years old? I like McNair, but this request is stupid. Pay for it yourself Bob.
better screens = better chance for superbowl and other major sporting events = more money for the city
That's a load of BS. Yeah, a Big screen is going to make The City of Houston into a tourist destination
a big screen isn't going to make it a tourist destination but yeah the super bowl committee does want to make the event take place at a venue that is top flight bc the super bowl is their elite event. in the most elite league in america. it won't be a tourist destination.. not sure where you got that idea, but it sure as hell will be for those 2 weeks leading up to it. Houston isn't just an industrial city anymore either. The city is showing signs of being world class in many aspects. We must continue taking steps toward a better future for Houston that takes a longer term view as opposed to dollars and cents in the short term.
I would like some tax money to upgrade my car, clothing, and residence. If this happens I'll feel better about myself. Feeling better about myself leads to more confidence. More confidence means I'll be more outgoing. More outgoing means I'll be out on the town more. Out on the town more means I'll be spending more money at shops and restaurants. Spending more money at shops and restaurants means a better local economy. So, please, voters of Houston: help me help you.
Our screen does especially suck. I've been to Dallas for a few games. Wow. I get it Bob, but why don't you go ahead an get that done.
A scoreboard is not going to get us another Super Bowl. While everyone talks about how great Houston managed the last Super Bowl, no one wants to come here. Compared to the other more "ideal" Super Bowl locations, Houston is a dump and has little to offer. Basically, we are the fat/ugly/b****y girl that has a great personality. You don't mind talking to her but you only **** her if it is the last resort or if you are being a good wingman. The NFL wanted Bob McNair's $700M. The City of Houston was being the nagging fat/ugly/b**** that wouldn't let your buddy **** her hot friend without some compensation. The NFL was the good wingman and gave Houston the Super Bowl so that your buddy could get laid. Houston is all out of hot poon.
I do agree that it is going to be tough to get another Super Bowl here, because unless you are Miami/NO/SD it's hard to get more than one (NFL basically gifts any city with a new stadium one Super Bowl, i.e. Detroit). But it's certainly not impossible. It's not going to happen with the videoboards as is though.
