http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/article/Texas-waive-Ogbonnaya-Keo-26-others-2154415.php Safety Shiloh Keo, punter Brad Maynard and running back Chris Ogbonnaya were among the players waived by the Texans on Saturday when they reduced their roster from 80 to 52 – one short of the maximum 53. General manager Rick Smith and coach Gary Kubiak will continue to rework the roster while the Texans prepare for the Sept. 11 opener against Indianapolis. Among the veteran players kept on the roster were Steve Slaton as the fourth running back and Bryant Johnson as the fourth receiver. Keo, the fifth-round pick from Idaho, didn’t make the team as the fifth safety. He’s a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers. Because they waived Maynard, the Texans will be in the market for a new punter. Ogbonnaya, who led the team in rushing in preseason with 54 carries for 192 yards, also could be placed on the practice squad. Linebacker Cheta Ozougwu, a seven-round pick, was waived injured along with free agent receiver Terrence Toliver. Saturday’s moves mean the Texans kept seven of their eight draft choices: defensive end J.J. Watt, outside linebacker Brooks Reed, cornerback Brandon Harris, cornerback Roc Carmichael, quarterback T.J. Yates and offensive tackle Derek Newton. Carmichael, a fourth-round pick, didn’t play in preseason because of a shoulder injury. Outside linebacker Bryan Braman, who signed as an undrafted free agent and recorded a team-high 2 ½ sacks in preseason, made the team. Notable veterans waived were linebacker Xavier Adibi, defensive end Damione Lewis, receiver Dorin Dickerson, tight end Anthony Hill, receiver Trindon Holliday, safety Quentin Demps, safety Torri Williams and linebacker Stanford Keglar. Others placed on waivers were running back Javarris Williams, fullback Zac Pauga, receiver Jeff Maehl, receiver Derrick Townsel, offensive tackle Cole Pemberton, center Cody Wallace, center Howard Barbieri, offensive tackle Peter Hendrickson, defensive end Scooter Berry, defensive end John Graves, guard Andrew Gardner, linebacker Mister Alexander, nose tackle Guy Miller, outside linebacker Steven Friday and snapper Scott Albritton and linebacker Matt Marcorelle,
I am betting the Texans will sign the P that Arizona just released - Graham. http://www.nfl.com/player/bengraham/2506128/profile
Good find. Yeah I think the Texans will likely sign him. He held for Rackers in Arizona as well which can't be overlooked.
Interesting Derek Newton made the team. Last year Texans try to get their development tackle prospect Steve Maneri through waivers and the Pats claimed him and he looks like a find for them. I still think Texans will make a few more moves. I think Igor Olshansky will be signed to add depth to the line. Tim Bullman hasn't showed anything since his major injury and will probably be cut to make room.
So I guess the 52 looks like this: QB - Schaub Leinart Yates RB/FB - Foster Ward Tate Slaton Casey Vickers WR - Johnson Walters Jones Johnston TE - Daniels Dressen Graham OL - Brown Smith Myers Briesel Winston Butler Caldwell Newton DL - Watts Mitchell Smith Jamison Cody Bulman LB - Barwin Cushing Ryans Williams Braman Reed Sharpton Dobbins Nading S - Quinn Manning Nolan Barber CB - Joseph Jackson McCain McManis Carmichael Harris Allen ST - Rackers Weeks

Only because they just drafted him. He looked bad in the preseason and had a big missed tackle in the Vikings game that led to a big gain (maybe a score). What a waste of a 5th round pick.
Who the **** is Steve Slaton still on this team? Do they really think a team will be dumb enough to traded for a RB who has played a handful of snaps this preseason because of injury? I think it says more about Foster's health concerns.
Well, injuries aside there have been reports from training camp that when he was on the field, Slaton looked like his old self again. If they can ride out whatever current injury problem he has, maybe showcase him in a game or two when the Texans have a big lead, they MIGHT be able to get something for him in trade. Seems like a lot of ifs, though.
The real question is whether or not Steve Slaton is better than Chris Ogbonnaya. The fourth RB on the depth chart should not see that much of the field.
