yeah we did, we were up 14-10 on the road in a game we were supposed to be getting blown out in. the texans would be extremely happy with a 14-10 halftime lead.
Exactly. They need to start putting their cajones in their offense. Getting too predictable, especiallly when the half is coming to an end.
Coleman is just killing us this game. On a related note, I saw him at the Red Door lounge drinking on Thursday night.
Had we tried to pass it downfield and it got intercepted everyone would be saying we should've run out the clock. Had Davis broken a long run then it was the right call. If it works its a great idea, if it doesn't, it was horrible play-calling.
This is a really bad defense and, as much as I think this Texan offense is going to get better and better, trying to hang point-for-point with Indy is a disaster waiting to happen.
Okay, in regards to "playing not to lose", I don't think that seeing ONE play where they hand off to Davis (who has been killing them previous) for a run constitutes "playing not to lose." Had that not worked out (meaning Davis had just been tackled because they were expecting it and he held on to the ball), then we might have gotten more creative. But to lambast them for playing not to lose because they ran on the first play of the drive with 1:50 left is being a bit hasty, to my way of thinking. Also, the guy that tackled Davis and caused that fumbled looked really offsides to me on that play. It's why he got through the line so fast without being slowed down. I can't believe the officials didn't catch it. Of course, that in no way excuses the fumble by Davis, but it aggravated me that it was missed since it turned out to be such a key play.
We have had a ton of plays this year where a receiver has been WIDE open for a huge catch downfield. How are our opponents getting so wide open??
Yes, I understood that. But claiming that we were trying to run out the clock because they ran on the first play of that drive is being hasty. I mean, you can't very well pass every single play. And thinking that Davis might be able to get some good yardage on what would normally be a passing play for a team in that situation is not necessarily bad thinking...it's just a risk. It all just looks really bad because he fumbled. But like I say, for all we know, if he had held on to the ball and only lost 5 yards instead of fumbling, they might have reverted to a pass attack in order to get into scoring position. We don't know what their game plan really was in that situation.
