Last I checked, games were won on the scoreboard, not on the stat sheet. Besides, that's only one side of the equation -- the poster clearly said Dallas dominated on both sides of the ball.
It's simple- the Cowboys are a Super Bowl level team and the Texans will have to fight to make the playoffs. The positives in the game was seeing the running game make real progress even with Kasey Studdard playing. I liked that Schaub was able to recover and finish up strong. The defense was bad, no question, but we did see good things from Okoye, Ryans, and Diles. I was also encouraged to see Jones flash a little of his ability with that nice return. I hope that by the time of the Pittsburgh game the Texans will have figured out that the drop-Anthony-Weaver-in-Coverage scheme is not a good idea.
In the regular season, definitely. But in preseason, no way in hell. Would you like me to remind you that Dallas held the Texans to 6 yards on the first 3 possessions. I'm not trying to get in your face, I'm an equal fan of both teams, but you're just being annoying.
LOL, you're moving the goalposts all over the place. I was disputing a statement that the Texans' first team was "manhandled" in it's entire time out there, which was basically three quarters. So, you've condensed three quarters to three possessions, the worst two of which happened immediately after one of their teammates looked like he had been paralyzed? Three quarters is not three possessions.
Did anyone notice how Schaub threw the long ball? He was underthrowing all night. Does he have an arm?
It's preseason. Cowboys took out their offensive starters after the first half becasue they manhandled the Texans defense. Case closed. It's preseason. Who really cares besides Kitty Cat? Noboday. Only Kitty Cat cares becasue he lives on the internet 24/7 posting links so he can prove his point to every clutchfans member so they know he's right even though they'll forget his 5 hours of research by the next day.
Dallas showed they were way ahead of the Texans to the extent that I think Kubiak had to be disappointed with what he saw. If Romo hadn't thrown that dumb interception, the 1st half might have been a complete whipping.
Ryan, Just as a heads up, you're on my ignore list from here on out. It seems it's not possible for you to have a discussion on any issue without going after me personally, so I'll call it a day with you. Since you seem to be so concerned with time spent on the board, I figured I'd give you the courtesy to let you know not to waste any additional time on it.
Once again, the Texans had no pressure on the passer. It was pathetic. Maybe they're saving the pass rush for the Steelers. Without any pressure, the defensive backs are getting eaten alive. The Cowboys had 266 yards in the first half and led 20-10. Romo was 15-of-19 for 166 yards and a touchdown with one interception. The Cowboys rushed for 100 yards in the first half when their first-team offense was playing. Marion Barber carried 13 times for 75 yards. Terrell Owens had four catches for 43 yards as the Cowboys won for the first time in preseason. The Texans lost for the first time in preseason because the defense couldn't have stopped Staubach and Aikman -- if they played today, for crying out loud.
Generally, yes. However, there are some factors to consider. 1.) imo, Dallas is the best team in the NFC and one of the top three in the league. The Texans simply aren't at that level. 2.) You can't discount the emotional impact of the Harry Williams situation. It's a meaningless game to begin with, and suddenly you're worried about the life of one of your teammates and friends. That has to have at least a temporary impact on focus. That's why I tried to show that what happened in the following two possessions (for both sides) after that injury didn't correlate with everything that happened in the three quarters the starters played. 3.) Consider the special teams. When you have a couple of big returns, which the Texans did, your total yardage is inherently going to be skewed because there's less room for you to go. 4.) I usually disagree with HillBoy, but he had a good point in this thread. From living here and working in the media hub of DFW, I can assure you that the natives were getting quite restless. There was a lot of pressure for them to play very well -- hell, look at how animated Wade Phillips was in the last couple of minutes, with his second/third teams in! There's definitely a case to be made that the Cowboys took this game more seriously than most teams take preseason games, when it comes to gameplanning. There are definite concerns, sure -- but there are also some other unique factors at play in that game that not everyone has considered, I don't think. Also, regardless of total yardage, it's hard to be completely "manhandled" on both sides of the ball when the starters exit at 20-16. Potential problems, sure, but let's not go overboard... that's all I'm saying.
