I thought Hard Knocks covered one team for a whole training camp. Shouldn't they already have a deal in place with a team? Seems kinda late. Texans training camp starts in like 5 days doesn't it?
Texans are serious. No Hollywood reality crap down here. Just straight football. It would have been cool though.
ha...yes, that doesn't mean i can't be objective about the personality of the head coach. he's a bump on a log. every single one of the other Hard Knocks have had head coaches with huge personality and presences that drive the show. some of you can't handle a hint of criticism of any sort about "your guys".
I think you would be surprised how different he acts behind the scenes in the locker room. Don't buy his golly gee routine he gives to the media.
I don't really watch HBO too much, but this would be a reason to watch other than the lame ass movies from five years ago, and the Boxing. I actually caught a lot of the New York Rangers Philadelphia Flyers 24/7. That was pretty entertaining.
cardpire, Kubiak is a different animal when he's not right in front of the camera in a post game interview. Forward to 1:12 of the video and see a glimpse of how he is on the practice field. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6uWMMjFpDAo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm glad they passed. I think it's an unnecessary distraction. I understand the viewpoint that it would give the Texans a lot more national exposure, but that also comes with just being a good franchise, which is where the Texans are heading anyway.
I heard a stat that Nick Scurfield retweeted about teams that appeared on Hard Knocks are 0-6 on reaching the Super Bowl. After reading that stat, I was okay with this.
not sure how much you have seen of Hard Knocks in the past, but there is a ton of interviewing the coach away from the field. he'd be following in the footsteps of rex ryan, herm edwards, brian billick, etc....coaches who were already known for having big personalities headed in to the show, and they did their best to provide entertainment value for the viewing audience. kubes wouldn't exactly fit in with that mold.
It's not just the coaches that make Hard Knocks entertaining, its the personalities all throughout the organization. The Bengals season had Marvin Lewis, who was pretty level headed on the show but they had guys like Ocho Cinco and Carson Palmer who were great in front of the camera. The Cowboys season, the head coach was Wade Phillips who is more bland than Gary Kubiak but they also had Jerry Jones, Tony Homo, TO, and even Tank Johnson was a big personality on there. I think the Texans have a lot of entertaining guys in Foster, Cushing, Barwin, Cody probably would have gotten a lot of air time since he's trying to make it in the TV world, and people always want to see more of Andre even though he's pretty quiet. Dwight Jones probably would have gotten a cult following as well with his outspoken personality. Even some of the assistant coaches sometimes become the biggest stars on the show. Hard Knocks will always be entertaining no matter what team is being featured because it gives you that unique behind the scenes look of an NFL team.
really? 2002 cowboys: Dave Campo 2008 cowboys: Wade Phillips are those coaches with huge personality and presence? other coaches: 2001 ravens: brian billick 2007 chiefs: Herm Edwards 2009 bengals: Marvin Lewis (they picked the bengals because of ochocinco, not because of the coach) 2010: Rex Ryan (maybe the only with huge personality)
