Goodbye Laremy, addition by subtraction...since they like bringing back players that were here before, George Fant is out there.
If there is no trade for another LT or a veteran pick up, then they’re looking at Banks or Campbell in the draft, which is gonna require a trade up.
I would feel a lot better about this if Caserio had made a single decent offensive line addition in his tenure as GM in Houston.
I had to go look as I am a glutton for punishment,,,, Fant & Josh Jones filled in decently, but if that's your highlights of OL adds since 2021.... ouchy mouchy Simple... 4.5 & under short shuttle, longish arms, explosion (vert + 10 yard)... easy peezy, lemon squeezy
I don't love it. OL is the one position after QB that you don't want to screw up, and for the moment they have made it worse. Having said that, I'll reserve judgment and assume there is more to this. There needs to be more to this re: their plans for the OL...
I hope Calley is consulted for the offensive line acquisitions. Caserio is great when he is working with somebody who knows exactly what they want.
Don't know if I posted anything on the forum, but one of my first offseason concerns after the Chiefs loss was Tunsil demanding an extension. In addition to "culture", I think this was part of Nick's thinking. The last thing they needed was Tunsil holding out until the last minute demanding more guaranteed money.
Im hoping if Caley is okay with this then there is gonna be a lot more chipping and moving of the pocket. Something of which slowik had no clue about
Considering it's our weakest link, they damn well better be adding some offensive linemen. Howard sucks, Scrubs is a scrub, and as much as I got disgusted by Tunsil we now need even more replacements. I was hoping for a good center in free agency too, but that isn't happening.
Tunsil was horrible as a leader of the O-line. If he didn't want to practice, he didn't. If he didn't want to show up to training camp until the very end, he didn't. If he didn't want to interview after a 3 penalty game, he didn't. All he cared about was the next contract and being the highest paid LT. Their are a lot of casual Texans fan upset but aren't plugged into how much he lacked accountability. The opposite of the swarm mindset Demeco is trying to instill.
The Tytus delusion must stop! He can follow Shaq & Laremy out the door as far as I’m concerned. Everyone seems to think that this was Caserio's decision - I don't think it was, this way Ryans decision - he is the one with the real power and he is the one that is huge on culture. I suspect that Ryans was sick of hearing negative things about Tunsil from multiple coaches and the desire for a new contract was enough for Ryans to want to get him out of the building. He didn't trade for or draft Tunsil. I will say this - Tunsil is no idiot, he quickly figured out how the league works, and that he is talented enough to make a huge amount of money. He likely does get a contract extension out of this or he plays this year at a higher level and then gets the money from the Redskins. He did the same thing in Miami and Houston. Tunsil was done dirty in the draft, but quickly learned how to play the money game. He is like a 5 times Pro Bowler and 3 time All Pro, not sure he gets into the Hall of Fame, but not sure he cares because he will have made like $200,000,000 when its all said and done.
