I like the deal, he's been on a mental decline over the past few years... could have been something to do with injury but my bet is just not being focused and part of that may be due to lackadaisical practice/training. He's a vet that knows he's good, so pushing himself probably is out of the question during camp and OTAs. The younger dudes feed off of that laps in energy and don't feel the need to push themselves either. This is all just speculation on my part but the flags were so stupid and unnecessary for the past two seasons. Now the only caveat is how well those picks will serve to assume more linemen into our front. Hopefully they are better prospects than; Green, Suggs, and Howard.
I'm not saying I'm the biggest Tunsil fan, but on a line that was abysmal at pass blocking he was the least of the issues. Maybe the new OC/Cesario has a gameplan, but on paper it's gonna be hard to be better than him at protecting Stroud's blindside....and the rest of the line was hot garbage.
I did not see the Dawg in him and he should have been the leader and this Oline was without a leader. He was a good pass protector and that’s where it ended.
Good. Dudes about To hold out unless he’s extended. Plus, he’s a selfish ‘look at my pff grades’ tackle. Very much a me, myself and I player.
OL hasn't been good enough as currently constructed. That's especially frustrating given the money and picks we've spent at that position group over the last few years. This one will hurt a lil bit, but that's what a rebuild does. Hopefully, the right remaining moves (and better coaching) will make the OL better as a whole. It can get worse, but it surely can get better too.
LZ and Granato were harping the other day on the "culture" of the o-line, how they were into fashion etc. and not "dogs". Guess the front office feels the same way? Need to help reset that culture and you also save cap space and stock up on picks, I guess that's a good deal. But if Fisher and Howard (or whoever) aren't able to fill that gap and we waste another year of CJ's rookie deal...yikes.
If we're talking about a hard reset on culture, Howard is more likely to be the next cut than he is being elevated to the most important position on the OL. I am on record as saying Tytus Howard is my least favorite Texan on this team, and that's purely off his shitty attitude. I'm luke-warm on the Tunsil trade, but I understand why they did it, and that the end result is more important than the semantics of how it gets done.
