Mmmm Hmmmm. Said it at the time .. what the layman see's is DeAndre Hopkins being "slow" and nothing more than a "possession" receiver, but what they dont address is how often (every single damn game) that Nuk would take the opposing #1 cover man out of the rest of the progression. Even then he was still able to feast and do his thing while being doubled and then being forsaken to a slot role with this team because of those "speed" issues! LOL OBrien covets all this speed, but doesnt know how to scheme it open since the guys he THINKS are just as good, really are not. Have you noticed all of the DB blitzing going on early? Its exactly because there is NOBODY like Nuk Hopkins on this team anymore to have to account for - man up these average receivers and send the extra guy. Im surprised DCs arent doing it more quite honestly.
packers is still much better than texans while steelers, titans, jaguars are also better than texans. Before the bye, only vikings is playing at similar level as texans. We will likely to be 1-6 or 2-5 after the bye.
Agree completely, not to mention DeAndre is one of the better route runners in the game still which means he can be effective for another 5 years or so.
Also, Hopkins was just a security blanket for Watson. The offense will be much better now that Watson doesn't have his security blanket. He can spread the ball around more.
Nuk is a top 1-3 receiver in the league but he actually isn’t a good route runner(From scouts and advanced statistics) nor great separation. He is just a beast at attacking the ball and huge catch radius with best hands in the league.
He may not be the best since it is not needed for him to succeed but he is a very underrated route runner thanks to his footwork, physicality and overall feel for the game.
I'm not watching the game but I just looked at the box score of the Saints game and I see Brees struggling. Funny even future HOFs struggle without their all pro star WR.
Since we trade our hof wr for the great david johnson. Our almighty diverse offense is 27th in pts, 23rd total yrds, 14th in passin and get this 29th/game haahahahahahahha. What a Sht trade.
Imagine taking away the playmaker from Troy Aikman so he could throw to Harper and Kevin williams. Great point. What's forgotten to mention in this tantrum trade is you threw away that chemistry that Watson and Hopkins had developed. It felt like they had been playing for a decade, considered one of the dynamic duos by opposing gms. Now we expect that same chemistry with guys that have taken zero meaningful snaps with Watson prior to the Chiefs game.
lmao nothing like mocking next years draft ALREADY!!! https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-...n-the-supporting-cast-he-needs-160259863.html
Not sure if anyone in the team or media said it, but it was said here by one of the usual suspects to justify the trade.
(forgive me and ignore this if you were being sarcastic...) Brees looks washed. He's a check-down machine, incapable of throwing the ball much past 10 yards. The best thing that could happen to the Saints right now? He gets hurt and Winston has to come in.
Get Up! is reporting that Houston "needs" a number one receiver now that they traded Hopkins (duh!) so they are now looking at picking up Antonio Brown. Now THAT would be the final piece for the Bill O'Brien Circus because he'll have his new head clown.
is this for real for real?? Wow that would be like watching the Hindenburg go down! DeAndre Hopkins is not OBrien worthy but Antonio "batshit crazy" Brown is?? Hey at least just by reputation alone it might draw away some coverage from the rest of the guys! 2020 just keeps on giving!!
The Billy Boys were adamant that DeAndre couldn't get separation. As it turns out, Dhop according to the fancy metrics is averaging more separation now than when he was a Texan. But wait there is more, The new guys averaged more separation with their old teams and have regressed here. It's almost like this offense doesn't put everyone in the best position to do what they do best. Dante Hall vs Lopez, October 2016 bout comes to mind. I think we all would like to see the players we have succeed no matter the coach but as it's always the case, schemes can make or break dreams.
No points in the second half of the loss to Pittsburgh today. Man, if only we had a stud receiver we could go to in clutch situations down the stretch.....
