Browns have the potential to be set up well but nothing in their draft history should give confidence. After the Brock Osweiler trade, Cleveland is armed with two 2017 first-round picks and two 2017 second-round picks, and a whopping three second-round picks in 2018.
Texans +80 spots in this years draft plus dumping Brock and his bad contract freeing up our cap for a pick next year between 53-58? Good job Rick.
I won't lose any sleep over Bouye. Yes he had one great season and team will overpaid for player like him. Remember Glover Quin? We lost him too and we survived, and I doubt Bouye will have better seasons than Quin's last few years.
Seeing as how Rick reached in daddys pocket and paid an extraordinary price for an unproven because he was so sold on Brock that it put us in this position in the first place and impressed daddy so much in the process that he got an extension on top of all that then I'm gonna say NOT.
The first pick in the 4th round is very valuable, because its the first pick of Day 3. RS maybe able to turn this into multiple picks. Trading a pick a year early is usually devalued by one round, so its like sending CLEV a 3rd. Overall, this is a big win for us in these areas... - Cap space, more flexibility to sign some difference makers - Pick at the top of RD 4 has extra value because teams scramble to get the guys that fell. This is a deep draft, so this year is even a better time to own this position. - BO is gone from the team and locker room. This is a very underrated benefit, but having him around would have been a black cloud over the next season. Not an RS fan, but he cut his losses and moved on. CLEV has enough picks to perhaps get Cousins now and that could really give them a jolt.
Oh, I've been just as guilty- look how hyped up I got over defending Clinton and everything Rockets-related. I used to get extremely pissed off when the Rockets/Texans/Astros lost. Now, it's more disappointment. It's like, OK, you got 5 minutes to be down that they lost, then it's time to move on.
Rick made a good trade today to get out from under Brock's contract and move up 80 spots in this years draft for a second next year. That's the present, correcting a mistake and setting us up to have the resources to try another QB this year. Also Rick Smith isn't going nowhere man you're just spinning yourwheels. Feel good the Texans made a good move today and are moving on from their mistake.
He deserves props. Overall the Brock tenure is still a negative on his resume. If we draft an above average QB this season, all is forgiven and more.. but time will tell. Bouye's worthy replacement needs drafting this draft, but that's another story.
I don't think it's the first pick in the fourth round. It's their compensatory pick, from what I've read.
