“@JasonLaCanfora: Texans are releasing former feature back Steve Slaton and promoting RB Chris Ogbonnaya from practice squad to take his place”
'bout time. I think they were trying to find a trade partner so that they could get something back but finally realized nobody was that stupid.
I'm not that impressed by Ogbonnaya, but Slaton had to go. Going to a new team might help him step it up and become productive again.
that's why I said to prove himself once again, he had 1000 rushing yds his rookie season but his 2nd season he had fumbling issue. I thought maybe if he fixed his fumbling problem, he could contribute big time as 3rd down back.
Reality should be that Chris never sees the field as a RB with Foster, Tate and eventually Ward but if he has too, I think he fits the zone scheme much better and provides a nice special teams player.
it's just weird how he can go from looking so good to so bad this fast. I get that the fumbling was due to a neck/nerve issue but that shouldn't have effected his decision making, vision, cutting, speed, etc. I do agree they were hoping for a trade but obviously never got it.
I always wonder about players ability to convert to another position. Are the positions so specialized at that level that it is impossible. I thought Slaton had decent hands. . . could he have been converted to WR? Is his speed enough that he could knocked down balls as a CB These are just musings of course. . . . nothing to be taken to serious but I wonder if the skill sets at that level are that specialized Rocket River
Dude. Ogbonnaya, really? It's only temporarily right? We don't need 4 freaking RB's on the roster. Hell, Vickers can run.
Ward is probably out at least one more game and Arian is still questionable until he can make it through a game. That leaves Tate and Ogbonnaya as your only 100% guys. He'll probably go back down once the others are all healthy.
