Thats fair, I do think he was better than I thought, I mean he did win a Natty. But man, that Michigan game soured me so much on him and Ryan Day.
okay so why the hell did it take so long? Once teams "figure out" this new Texans offense, it's going to take another full year for Slowik to adjust?
Slowik is not on the lists of the remaining NFL head coach openings. I would like to see him replaced, but chances are looking dim. Maybe he will improve. Maybe they will "promote" him in the organization. How about Asst. Head Coach? Maybe he will quit. He is taking a lot of heat in the media. Maybe by improving the offensive line, he will do better. One part of the whole should not be allowed to negatively affect the whole.
There are probably a dozen "right" answers to this question - and this doesn't necessarily absolve Slowick - but more and more, I feel like the most pressing issue is personnel. They played long stretches without Mixon & Nico; they played 1/2+ season without Diggs; Dell missed the final four games. And I think every one of us - even those willing to pay the charter for Slowick to leave town - would agree we need a significant upgrade at TE and, at the very least, across the IOL; better depth at RB & WR; and a #2 and, frankly, #3 WR we can reasonably expect to be available in January. I'm tempted to suggest, if you have a finger pointed at Slowick, you might want to also have one ready to point at Caserio. Look, no regrets - but the Anderson trade was *costly* from a personnel standpoint. And what made it costlier was how many picks Caserio has not turned into high-end contributors. I don't think any of us have a clue if Green, Patterson, Scruggs and/or Fisher are long-term answers. He resigned Schultz, who needs to be released yesterday. I can't fault him for Diggs or Dell - but given age, size and/or history, having Metchie (who might be another wasted pick), Hutch and Woods as your back-ups is less than ideal. And WTF can't Pierce get on the field??? They have drafted well defensively. They also have a defensive-minded HC who might be impacting that. But Caserio's inability to find later round gems is starting to stack up.
BOOM!!! About damn time. Now bring in a real OC, fix that O-Line, and watch this team flourish next season.
Wow. Have to imagine that part of the calculus is they have a name they want and know that person is interested. I suspect they’ll name a replacement quickly.
