Commanders is the biggest threat for Slowik. They have a top 3 pick and will want their QB to start off fast. Slowik just did it with CJ. I have a feeling that will be his landing spot.
Not discounting the teams in our division but the Texans have to start thinking how can they beat the KCs and Bals
Yeah, Slowik might be *just a bit outside* as far as top choice for most of these teams. Because of that, we may get him back next year. One would assume he'd be towards the top of everyone's list next year.
It's possible Saturday dented his stock - but likely not as teams aren't going to let a single game change their plans. CJ Stroud is still the OROY. Nico Collins still made the leap. Devin Singletary was still one of the best RBs in football the second half of the season. He still worked with a patched-over offensive line. Heck, if anything, Saturday made his season look even more impressive, given the Texans' obvious talent disadvantage.
Even if the new OC is better? Come on man, the offense was not good because of Slowik’s prioritization of Devin Singletary. The 2023 Texans offense was good because of the talent, most notably the additions of Stroud, Dell, and Schultz, plus internal growth from our guy Nico Collins. If Houston had Baltimore’s OC, the Texans could have won 2 or 3 more games.
We’re just not going to agree. Slowik was highly sought after last year and this year. The league knows more than fans.
Doesn't it seem like the hires are coming slower than usual? I know there are still games left but seems that way right?
The loss of Slowik might not be a bad thing. So many BOB vibes. He had his moments, but so many calls seemed predictable. First down up the middle for no gain was his favorite.
Some people were waiting for Bucs OC (Panthers), Ben Johnson is still on the board but nothing can happen till the Lions are done, same for Monken and McDonald. People are still waiting to see what happens before making decisions. Panthers GM choice was… interesting.
It was his first year, and for all the successes they had, he was working with a rookie QB; a rookie WR; a patchwork OL (which, when healthy, might not be very good); and a lack of weapons around Nico and Tank. Where was Nico Collins the past two years? CJ was unquestionably impactful - but the play design and use of him (what a weapon he became in the screen game) - all of that was Slowick. He had a very good year, and the proof is in how many teams want to poach him.
With Slowik and Jerrod Johnson interviewing for higher positions, do we have to sit and wait for them to leave? Or can we publicly announce we're interviewing candidates? Would suck if both left and there's no one left. Unless, we already have someone in mind.
