Brown is the best Texan ever!!! What loyalty!!! He knows NOTHING is as stake this season and the best thing to get this franschise back on track is to fire Casserly and Capers and draft Reggie Bush! Texans MVP = Kris Brown!!!!!
I read where they use the strength of schedule tie-breaker to determine draft order if teams are tied. So whoever has the weaker strength of schedule gets the #1 pick if we are tied, right? I thought I remembered us losing out on this two years ago because we had the stronger strength of schedule in a group of 4 or 5 teams, and we got the #10 pick.
Huge wins by the Jets and Packers today. That gives us a little margin for error in case we screw up and beat either the Cardinals, Jaguars or 49ers. We'd still have the #2 pick as long as we don't win more than 1 more.
It looks like it doesn't matter if we win the Arizona game anymore. It all comes down to the last game of the year between us and the 49ers. Here's how the schedules stack up. 49ers 15 Sun, Dec 18 at Jacksonville 16 Sat, Dec 24 at St. Louis 17 Sun, Jan 1 Houston Texans 15 Sun, Dec 18 Arizona 16 Sat, Dec 24 Jacksonville 17 Sun, Jan 1 at San Francisco It looks like the 49ers will lose in Jacksonville and St Louis, and there is no way that the Texans win at Jacksonville. So even if the Texans beat Arizona it's going to come down to the Frisco game and the headsup tiebreaker.
That's right. Head to head is the first tiebreaker. That San Fran game is going to be pretty comical to watch if the first pick is up for grabs.
Actually, draft order is determined by strength of schedule, not head-to-head. So there is a possibility that if we win the last 2 games, we can drop below #2. Because or schedule is pretty "tough" having to play Indy twice. So the Arizona game is still a big one in terms of draft position. If we lose that game, then we're lock for at least the second pick.
Yeah, if it's more than one team it is strength of schedule. But if it two teams and they have played, head to head is the first tiebreaker. That's what John McClaine was saying on 610 this morning at least.
Hopefully Jake Plummer eats the Texans alive. We can only hope. I wonder if the San Fran they are chanting "Reggie! Reggie!"
If the 49ers lose their 3 remaining games (including the Texans) and we lose 2 and then beat the 49ers, we'll still get the #1 pick.
No, because both the 49ers and the Texans will be 2-14, and since we beat the 49ers they would have the heads up tie breaker.
No. The strength of schedule comes first. Draft Order Determination Draft positions are determined by record, the team with the worst record during the regular season picks first and so on. If two teams have the same record, the strength of schedule tie-breaker is used which is the combined winning percentage of all teams on each team's schedule for the current season. If teams are still tied after strength of schedule has been applied, the division or conference tie breakers are used. If teams are still tied after applying all tiebreakers or if two teams are tied that are in different conferences, a coin toss after the season will determine which team gets priority.
I'm sure you mean Kurt Warner. Anyway the Cardinals do have the #1 passing offense in the NFL. And with our secondary....
This is correct if the Texans are 1-14 going into the SF game and the 49ers are 2-13 going into that game and IF the Texans win to make them both 2-14 then the Team with the lower strength of sched. would get the number 1 pick. The Texans can win at SF and still get the number one pick if they have a lower SOS at the end of the year. After a lot of math the Texans current SOS is 97-72 which equals .574 the 49ers SOS is .586. Keep in mind though that the SOS changes everyweek depending on how all of the teams that the projected team played in that year fared . Now if at the end of the year both the Texans and the 49ers have a SOS that is identical then the next usable tie breaker would then be head to head, in which case the loser would get the number one pick.
We must root for Seattle to beat Indy. We can "pick up" 2 games since they play in same divison as San Francisco and we as the Colts.
Do they use the 2004 SOS or 2005 SOS? I'm getting different answers. If its the 2004 SOS, the 49ers have an easier one If it's 2005, the Texans currently have the easier schedule.
