    just reported on ABC news...

The guy who owns the old Astroworld property will let anyone and everyone tailgate in his lot for 20 bucks a car.....and u can have an RV or whatever u want....and if u get there the night before (in an RV i presume), u can park overnight before the game

Ah. ****ing morons ruining it for the rest. The way of the world.

Anyway, I have no problem with this. I never understood staying in the parking lot during the game (pre and post I get) anyway.

That Astroworld parking lot might become an interesting social experiment though. All the idiots like in the video above, stuffed into that lot with none of them actually leaving to go to the game? Plus, the Texans organization will be completely devoid of responsibility? I hope they set up cameras.

Not to mention that the Texans are letting ticket holders eat and drink on their property which takes revenue from them. It was never about being a free for all for any citizen to come party in the parking lot. It was supposed to enhance the experience for paying customers. People take things way too far sometimes.

For all those saying they don't understand why folks want to tailgate and not go to the game, did any of you attend college in the South? If you have ever been to a southern college football game or a schools homecoming (where everyone goes specifically to tailgate) then you should be able to understand. I thought the team was trying to create a festive atmosphere, similar to those environments. I also thought they were trying to reach the fans that couldn't afford to drop big $$ to actually go to the game, yet still want to support the team and have fun. There is nothing wierd about wanting to tailgate. Maybe if you grew up in the North or East where cold weather prevents it.*

It's not tailgating if you are not directly outside the venue. There is another term for it...poofgating.

I like this idea. I've always thought it was really odd that people would go sit in the parking lot when they weren't going to the game.

Call me a supporter...imagine how rowdy this crowd could get if the Texans made noise in the post-season?

I'm reminded of the not-so-brilliant idea of putting up screens outside the Staples Center during Lakers playoff games in LA and inviting the general public. Very hostile environment, to say the least.

Not that I'm comparing Texans fans to Lakers fans, but I'd rather the Texans be proactive about it and not wait until people are turning cars over or starting fires.

I'm geussing the amount of people who tailgate without a ticket is limited to people who are pretty good fans. I can't imagine many bandwagon fans wanting to go sit in the parking lot all day.

I was in the yellow lot. I have had season tickets since 2002. I had a very difficult time finding a parking spot. It took me 25 minutes to find a place to park. The parking lot is there to provide the people going to the games with a place to park their cars. It is not to provide 20,000 non-ticketed persons with a place to booze it up while those with tickets cannot find a place to park.

Why not just create a non ticketed fan tailgate zone? Didn't the Texans have a reputation for having one of if not the best groups of tailgaters?

that's the problem right there. the minute it becomes a nuisance to so many ticket holders...as i've experienced and keep hearing others talking about...is the minute they limit it. when the guys shelling out the bucks for tickets start complaining in numbers, you do something about it if you're the group selling those tickets.

Tailgating in the parking lot was fun while it lasted...I wish the world was a big old soccer ball so we could all kick it...
