The Giants had the exact same type of system, but gave up on it after 3 years because of quality and injuries.

Giants Stadium installed a grass tray system in 2000. That's probably where the Texans/NRG got the idea. But they ditched it during the 2002 season because it was too crappy. If only they'd tried and failed earlier, the Texans might not have thought it a viable option.

You might wanna read back a few posts.

Also, I'm not basing it "sucking butt" on brown parts (it's not ever really brown). I'm basing it on being 1) pitted/loose as hell 2) seams everywhere and 3) players and coaches saying it "sucks butt".

I find it hard to believe this is simply a result of 10+ years of incompetence from a grounds crew. Especially when this system appears to be one of a kind. Hard to say with any certainty that the pallet system is a net positive at this point.

    LOL. Interesting. Classic Texans stick-to-it-tiveness.

Pretty sure the Texans could buy-out the Rodeo's stake in NRG if they wanted/needed to. Pretty sure its not debatable which one is worth more than the other... and you never answered the question regarding if the county taxpayers had to vote on the side of one or the other, which do you think would come out on top?

At the end of the day, the rodeo was not going to (or willing to) be able to build NRG by itself. Yes, they make a helluva lot of money every year... its a very impressive rodeo...hence why they could have their own venue that only gets used for a month every year.

But as far as which entity is more important to the city, that's certainly debatable (and wouldn't really be much of a contest if we really had to choose).

The complaints certainly ratcheted up this year (whether unfounded or not)... I don't think its at the same level of maintenance as it was when they first opened the stadium (or from 2002-2013ish).

If you include surrounding counties the rodeo would win by a landslide.

I'd imagine it'd only take a couple days at most. Could be wrong though.

that's what i was thinking, so they could have it done by Sunday, since i'm assuming they made plans for it before announcing...but i haven't seen media confirm that.

I don't think anyone necessarily wants turf. I'll take it though over the crap the Texans have been calling a field.

I posted a survey from a couple years ago earlier in this thread I believe. The Texan's field still tested pretty high overall and was decent in just the grass fields.
