    Ugh...

This feels like an expansion team.

I’m sure there are plenty of incentives built in... including bonuses for games started, which he will undoubtedly reach once Deshaun is traded

    Great contract for a starter
    Head scratcher for a backup
    Pretty good for a not-sure-yet

Hope it's a 3 million dollar contract with 9 million in incentives.
Otherwise it's just stupid. Should Deshaun leave, a smart team wouldn't shell out that much on a place holder. Ideally a better draft pick.

Unless you want to save face with the fan base but they don't really care about them so to save face for themselves

Contingency plan. Doesn't mean they are trading Watson.

Probably similar to the Winston, Fitz, Dalton contracts.

I guess this is just the going rate for journeymen qbs.

It’s incentive laden. If he gets all of that money, he will have earned it. And it will mean that something happened to two other QBs.

All signs pointing that way my friend. Tyrod is a backup & placeholder until something better comes along. The Texans are just positioning themselves.

This is a good contract for his experience. For a second I thought 12 million?

The deal is for less than $6million, with added incentives. Watson was the only QB on the roster.

Honestly, I hope no one craps on this signing.

Tyrod Taylor, when healthy, is a good QB.

I don’t mind what the Texans are doing, per se, and this signing is fine, it’s just really obvious that they are in full rebuild with a bunch of older veteran players, and none of them are particularly good. I hate watching bad teams full of old players who are at the end of their careers. It’s a shame it had to come to this.
