He is just another arm. He will get his shot to compete, but no doubt, Kubiak call Kyle asked what was up and Kyle as a favor to Beck sold him on the idea of having him signed, since they know they aren't going to work Schaub in the OTAs and so TJ doesn't get full of himself.
nothing at all. I'm not sure what that poster is thinking but Beck is just an arm like Naija Texan said.
They won't get rid of Keenum, but in the event that we lose Schaub, they'd far rather have Beck behind Yates than an undrafted rookie behind Yates. They're essentially getting their Jake Delhomme now, rather than risk scrambling for one late in the season like last time. Beck already has familiarity with the system and has starting experience, which immediately puts him ahead of Keenum in the "win-now" pecking order. Keenum's a pure development project, I expect him to be a permanent PS fixture for the year. Redshirt freshman style.
Yates may have more potential because he can scramble and has a better arm, but he's got a long way to go to be at Schaub's level. Schaub has his shortcomings but he gets the job done. I feel fairly confident predicting that Beck will make the squad as 3rd string and Keenum will go to P-squad.
If they carry 3 QBs on the roster, yes he'll make it and Keenum to PS. If they carry 2, no he'll be cut and Keenum to PS.
