It would take one hell of a bed crapping for multiple weeks before he goes anywhere IMO. Kubiak is insanely loyal to his QBs and Yates has been impressive relative to the situation so far. He would have to be Blaine Gabbert bad and he isn't even close to that. That was a top ten defense we saw vs Atlanta. I was thoroughly impressed with his pocket presence and ability to evade the rush on Sunday. That's something that Schaub is terrible at (feeling pressure). Even if Yates throws more picks, he looks like he can avoid sacks and sack-fumbles very well which would effectively cancel each out a high INT ratio. We don't need him to be great, just decent. I'll say this again- if the Jets can make the AFC title game with Sanchez, we can do it with Yates.
I have roasted Toast on many occasion, but he is improving. I know it helps covering 2 and getting a mighty pass rush. Still, the guy DID leave early and seems to be on his way to being considered at least a solid #2 CB. It's early, but if he was a stock I'd be covering my short position.
do a google image search of "jeff garcia's wife", SafeSearch OFF, 4th row down directly under the "page 2" title, thank me later.....
^^^^ seems like the result search comes up different everytime.. the photo that must be seen is hosted on a site called phonezap... okay, search, jeff garcia phone zap
I honestly like Yates getting this experience. I believe with the right tutaledge (sp?) he will become a better QB than Schaub and hopefully less injury prone.
Bobblehead, please spoiler that or remove it entirely. You are going to cost us picture posting privileges.
So uh, what were we talking about? Oh right. If you had told me that, after leaving Philly, Jeff Garcia would ever don a Texans uniform, I'd have laughed in your face.
First off, props to J.Garcia. How did TO call this guy gay? Second, Kellen Clemens couldn't stay on a roster with Grossman and Beck, he serves no purpose here. I like having old guys around who might still have a spark just in case, even though Yates will be a solid no.2 for the next few years.
I agree with the notion that he's not being brought in to play, he's being brought in to help mentor. I'm guessing Yates displayed enough Sunday to relax the coaching staff. Delhomme's the back up, and Clemens became pointless. If they were concerned about needing a new starter, you'd think McNabb would have gotten the phone call.
I disagree he was brought in to mentor. Schaub is the guy that is supposed to mentor. Him and Kubiak. Yates actually knows the system better than Dellhome or Garcia, so how could they mentor him? Both these guys were brought in so that if Yates goes down Kubiak doesn't have to start all over again with a young QB.
Like the other QB signings this for a 3rd string position. It's Yates to lose. If it gets to the point where we're down to Delhomme/Garcia, then God helps us all.
