They had 5 safeties on the roster last year. Quin, Manning, Keo, Demps, Pleasant.

Demps is gone, Quin is gone, Reed is in. They are going to add another safety that is versatile. Keo can't do anything on the field.

I don't think it was truly his for the taking with Walter still on the roster. I am anxious to see how he responds now, though.

IIRC, Pleasant more or less lived on the practice squad last year.

Agreed regarding Keo. He made cutie eyes at Wade during that Senior Bowl and it's made his career. Smaller crappier version of Pollard.

It was - no secret the staff REALLY wanted to see him, Martin, or Posey blow up in the preseason and take the job, but everyone of them was inconsistent day to day and hour to hour and play to play. I do believe Jean was starting to make things happen....but his knee derailed everything. It'll be interesting to see if he or Martin can shine this spring/summer. Very much make or break for both of them.

They have to add another safety. Have to. Keo can't cover. Brandon Harris can't cover. Right now their dime package would force them to play Pleasant. I guess...

Contract has to be motivating to Ed because he is ages this year he'll be cut and won't see a penny beyond this season.

I'm with you all the way, I was done with Keo the same day he was drafted. Made no sense, even then. Wade doesn't want box safeties...and then drafts one anyway. Keo getting time late last year (sometimes as the lone guy back!!!) makes me think he's not on his way out.

No clue what Pleasant can do. He's a midget though - listed as 5'10" and was projected to be a strong safety coming out of Oregon. At OU he made his mark with sacks and tackles, and every draft report considered him a box safety that operates best when he comes forward. Crossing my fingers he has some cover skills.

Carmichael has been a complete zero so far. Harris....I'll go easy on him and hope that he can continue to develop as a nickel or dime guy. Keeping McCain was a big help, even if he's not great insurance against a Joseph or Jackson injury.

For certain, we need at least two more DBs.

He was out worked and outplayed. Posey is a legit #2 receiver and its a shame he's hurt but Lestar isn't a #2 or #3 and whoever we get in the draft will outplay him again, there are reasons some ppl in small schools go undrafted. I can't wait til Posey comes back, I know he's working his arse off to return to form and come back earlier that everyone expects

Harris has had two years and he's "developed" to the point that the Texans NEVER wanted him on the field. Last year they even discussed moving him to safety. I think it's fair to say he's a bust at this point, but I guess there is always hope. LOL

Hmm. Who better to take him under his wing than Ed Reed? He could even play some in the dime and contribute right away, not to mention special teams. I think he's worth a 3rd rounder.
