How much do you think goes against our cap? How does this work> Can they give
him the 6 million in bonus signing and not counting anything against this yr cap...

I'd be running from McClain also. He was probably sweating and very pale. Reed probably thought McClain was going to eat him

If it all goes against the cap, we have very little else to work with. In which case, I'm not thrilled. I'm really hoping that's not the case.

In this information day and age, he's a dying breed... he's even more of a dying breed if you consider his body habitus.

Honestly, I don't see any benefit in catching up with a guy right after he gets off a flight. He's either going to say very little of substance, or say nothing.

You likely get the same quality of story about his signing in Houston mainly by attending the press conference.

I have no idea how it is counted but I don't really care. It's going to count somewhere. If the Texans spread a cap hit out, great. If they chose to take their medicine this year for more room next year, great.

All options have plus and minus.

Regardless of how it counts, I think there is zero chance they sign a veteran WR to start opposite of Andre for anything more than peanuts, and I don't think it has anything to do with cap room.

Gotta wait for the total to be released they'll structure/restructure depending on what we're needing to fill. Plus we still have some wiggle room with contracts.

I'm just excited the plan wasn't to keep Walter installed at $3M, let everyone walk, and pay the likes of Sensabaugh and Bradie James to fill the holes #ontherighttrack.

9 draft picks to work with...hopefully they land 4-5 immediate contributors that way.

I am with you in the respect that WR2 is both a priority....and a difficult need to take care of on the cheap. Hard enough to find someone ready to excel on day 1.

My counter would be that Kubiak's system can generate huge passing numbers without relying on an amazing receiving core or top 5 QB. On paper, if we take care of the more fixable issues and see progress out of the line, someone like Jean could end up being enough. For now.

What do those numbers mean cap hit wise?

We can't answer that until we know how the contract is structured.

Edit: My guess is the cap hit this year is about $5 million. (4.9)

Reed isn't a media guy by the way, it will take a lot of work to get a comment from him.
