]What should we make of Brock Osweiler’s 521 snaps in 2015? The former second-round pick had three games graded above +2.0 (0.0 being average), while two other games fell below -3.0. He obviously flashed enough ability to make the Texans think he could start, but his inconsistent accuracy—especially downfield, where he had the second-worst deep accuracy percentage in the league—is worrisome. Osweiler’s overall grade was lower than Brian Hoyer’s in 2015. – Mike Renner, @PFF_Mike
On the pff stats, those lack context. It's hard to know what to make of them. Keep in mind that Hoyer had bad numbers before last year and bob had an idea of how to get something out of him. If bob thinks osweiler has more in there than I trust him and hope it works out. Osweiler has a rocket for an arm. Perhaps his stats were bad because he was taking too many deep shots in an offense not designed for it?
LOL wtf? We won some Superbowls back in the 90s, so FEAR US! Elway hasn't evaluated crap. He signed Peyton Manning. That's it.
Brock Osweiler's 4-year, $72M deal with #Texans includes $37 million fully guaranteed in the first two years. Osweiler gets $21M in 2016 ($12M signing bonus, $5M roster bonus, $4M salary). His $16M base salary in 2017 is also fully guaranteed. The rest of Osweiler's money is non-guaranteed: $18M salary in 2018, $4M roster bonus trigger due March 2019 and $13M salary in 2019. That puts Brock Osweiler's cap numbers at: $12 million in 2016, $19M in 2017, $21M in 2018 and $20M in 2019. — Tom Pelissero Brock Osweiler: $72M, $37M gtd, $12M signing bonus, salaries $4M, $16M, $18M, $13M Brock Osweiler has $5 million roster bonus on March 16, $4M base salary in 2016 fully guaranteed along with $16M 2017 base — Aaron Wilson
All guaranteed in the first two years. This move will make or break BoB and Rick Smith. I didn't see anything special out of Brock last year, but I hope I am wrong. All I know is that this year will be Playoffs or bust, and McNair is expecting to contend for Super Bowls after opening his checkbook today.
Wonder what we'd have to do to get him to make a similar tweet for the Rockets. "Rockets making a good run at Durant. But I don't see him leaving the Thunder....." C'mon Pancakes. Make it happen!!
That's huge. We have some extra space to work with this offseason if necessary. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">That puts Brock Osweiler's cap numbers at: $12 million in 2016, $19M in 2017, $21M in 2018 and $20M in 2019.</p>— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) <a href="https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/707750151675318272">March 10, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I hated the Fitzpatrick signing, I came to like him by the end of his time here to the point I hated to see him go. I hated Hoyer, partially because I thought Fitz was better and mostly of how his previous season ended. I hated Mallet because he hadn't done anything. I've resolved not to hate or complain about Brock. At least not yet. Partially because there weren't much better options and he might actually be good. And I hope he is good. I like the potential and the better he is, the better the Texans are. Plus I don't want to be the annoying guy trying to pick out every negative thing about dude. It is good to know that the Texans went after the top skilled offensive players and got them. No one should complain about the team not being aggressive enough. Go Brock! Go Miller! Go Texans!
Well, they did make the playoffs last year... And I don't expect Brock to be as hapless as the other QB's were in *this* system. BOB's schemes do require more line reads and audibilizing than Kubiak's did. It's more like what Gase was running with Peyton, prior to Gary coming over, so Brock may end up more comfortable in that sort of dynamic vs the Kubiak bootleg/single read system.
I have no clue what to think about this. What I saw last year left me underwhelmed, but hsi overall stats looked decent. Just have to let this play out. Can't say they didn't take a chance.
