I know what you mean, and I agree pretty much. But Brock is young...relatively in age, and especially in experience (which is what is key...few games = potential upside). And in theory has learned a lot in that time. In that sense, he is ideal.

Brock is like Ken Giles...except we paid in $$ instead of prospects. Now let's home they both throw some strikes

If Osweiler is a long term average STARTING QB, the Texans will have done well. The Texans will have lost no draft picks, and will not have had to spend time developing a QB. Also the money per season is pretty much average starter money.

I am not a fan of the Texans front office, they should have drafted a developed a QB and not need to risk $36,000 on an unknown..... it is a very large risk, one they basically have to take because they have not developed any in house options.

My point is that Osweiler doesn't have to be great to make it a successful signing. He doesn't need to be a top 5-8 QB to be a success...... he can be Jay Cutler and still work out well.

Can you imagine what Hackenburg would be feeling if the Texans passed on him in the 4th round and then in then in the 5th?

Nothing serious, the lady was trying to act tough and Brock pushed her away, and then the short stuff tries to play hero and ran over to push Brock. Brock did the right thing by not doing anything major.

Osweiler turns 26 this year, Lamar Miller turns 25 this year, and Nuk Hopkins turns 24 this year. Talk about a young nucleus on offense to build around for the Texans!

No but I'm going into the season with an open mind and no agenda. I hope I'm wrong.

You know who else was 26 when we signed him?

Based on rating, Hoyer played well against:
Falcons (embarrassing loss), Colts (loss to Hasselback... believe Hoyer threw a pick late in the 4th), Jags (W), Titans (W), Saints (W), Bills (L) ... 3-3, against so so to bad teams

    Hoyer played bad against:
Chiefs (L), Dolphins (L), Bengals (W... though ugly win), Patriots (L), Jaguars (W)... and OF COURSE, Chiefs (L) again where he had a ridiculous horrible game. 2-4, against so so to good teams (4 playoff teams, 1-3 record against)

The last Chiefs game alone is reason to not care about the comparison. If Hoyer put up an average Hoyer game, that would have been a competitive game, for example.

Based on rating, Osweiler played well against:
    Chicago (W), Oakland (L), Pittsburgh (L), Cincinnati (W) ... 2-2 against generally good teams

    He played bad against:
Chiefs (W), Patriots (W), Chargers (W), Chargers (L... benched) ... 3-1 against so so to good teams

It was Brock's first year as a 25 year old starter, though with a great team. It was Hoyer's second full year starting, and more in consideration of games player historically, as a 30 year old. Unfortunately there is no Brock playoff game to look too, to compare.

Brock is 6'7, 240 pounds. Hoyer is 6'3, 215 pounds.

I'm not in love with this signing but any comparison toe Hoyer is dumb

The Texans need to make sure he doesn't not wear #8. That number should be retired and burned.

I like it. QB is an inexact science so gotta take risks and either strike out or hit a home run.

Also found it interesting he was nowhere to be found on the day of Peyton Manning's retirement presser. — Mike Garafolo
