I think the Texans will take AP if he is there. If not I think a 2nd on Bush is a good possibility. The whole if they don't take one on round 1 they won't on round 2 argument is silly, if a RB is at the top of their board among what is available they take him, that simple. You don't reach (Lynch for 8 might be), but you don't avoid great value prospects. The could take an RB with a 1st, 2nd or 3rd--just depends on the board.

Michael Bush is a great talent. Like McGahee, someone will take him even if he isn't 100% for workouts based on his game performance. I think a 2nd rounder is likely.

I trade up to take AP or Joe Thomas.
Barring AP,Bush would work great, but we need another cornerback.Let's use the 2 on a corner as we need one and running backs can be picked up in 3 and 4 in Denver South's offense.

Bush and McGahee's situations are similar but also opposites..

Bush broke his tibia, McGahee tore about 4 ligaments in his knee. Bush's injury is considered minor compared to that.

But McGahee had put together a heisman worthy season when his injury happened.. Bush was just beginning his heisman campaign. So advantage McGahee there.

Personally I think Bush will rip up the combine and make himself a solid top 20 pick.

I have to disagree completely with this statement.

Bush will do well in the strength portion of the combine, but he has never had great speed. His fastest 40 time was a 4.55, which is a little below average for a RB, but he has also been nursing a broken leg. Even if he is fully recovered from it, he will be rusty. I'd be suprised if he ran faster than a 4.6. Even worse than his 40 will be his agility and shuttle run. If Bush jumps up the charts, it will be because scouts love his size and running style and potential, but I don't think it will be because of a good combine showing because I doubt he'll have one.

I don't really see him going in the 1st Round either. No team is in dire need a RB IMHO, except for GB, but I think they'll go with Lynch before Bush. I wouldn't mind picking up Bush in the 2nd though, even though I think we have bigger holes we need to fill.

4.6 is in the Emmitt Smith/Walter Payton range, yikes :p ;)

I agree with you I don't think he will tear up the combines and mostly get drafted by game film. Tail end 1st or 2nd rounder (most likely) I suspect.

I have to disagree with this assertion, we need more draft picks not less. We would moreless have to give another pick either this year or next year but not likely they would say ok to draft pick in 2008.

Would love to have the option of one or both at our disposal but I dont think the trade up option is a good idea.

We have more than a few holes to fill in the draft.
