I thought Griffin kinda faded out way back with Joel Dreesen. But he was still playing only 2 seasons ago lol Akins actually was low end productive, with consistent numbers more seasons than those guys. Maybe even a little undervalued as a #2 pass catching TE. But he played in the most miserable era in Texans history (Like does anyone hold "1000 yard receiver Brandin Cooks" highly?)
After looking around the league at cuts, practice squads, and signings... I would swap Logan Brown for Jaylon Thomas on the PS (esp. if we end up moving Cam Robinson). I like Solomon Byrd, but Andre Carter II is a Htown guy & I think he has some juice as an edge rusher. I am still on board if we move Watson for Dugger. My thought: Pats eat SB ($13.5M) + $3M of base (2025) + $2M (2026) + $2M (2027). Texans can then try him out & see about reworking his deal in the last 2 years. Pats would only eat $20.5M instead of $23.5M plus pick up Watson. EDIT: also, found it very strange Texans didn't acquire Cole Strange after he got cut by Pats. But whatevs...
We have 2 more slots available, but we might not want to fill them just yet. There are players on the Reserve lists which might be close enough to keep a slot open. I heard Daniel Jackson may have signed, but it was somewhere between a rumor and speculation.
I follow the Texans and the NFL semi-religiously once the season starts (50% Stros, 50% NFL, 50% CFB), but I have no idea how any of yall have opinions/knowledge-that-they-exist about ~90% of these guys on the waiver wire. Kudos. Truly appreciate the info.
Last two PS players are up now: 15 Reid Holskey T 23 310 Miami (ohio) - Previously Released by Baltimore. 16 Josh Kelly WR 24 192 Texas Tech - Previously Released by Dallas
Reid started 41 games in last 3 years and 1st (2024) and 2nd (2023) Team All-MAC. Looks like he can play OT/OG (shorter arms, but decent athlete)... https://draftscout.com/dsprofile.php?PlayerId=1040621&DraftYear=2025
