Were either of those things factually incorrect? What do you expect him to say publicly? "WE F***ING SUCK! EVERYONE IS F***ING FIRED!". Yeah...that ain't happening. I really don't understand people's need to see the owner go apes*** in public. What good does that do anyone?
Owner doesn't go ape****. Get's criticized for not being angry enough. Owner goes ape****. Get's criticized for not being professional.
So then we can complain about how out of control the owner is and how he should be more reserve and patient Rocket River
I don't want to see him blow up. I was fine with what he said before, about us needing to regroup and fix some problems and some things about TJ Yates coming in, but I don't want to hear a ****ing word about the division lead and the PLAYOFFS coming off of the second 40+ point deficit in 3 weeks and in a division that is poised to be one of the worst in the history of the NFL. I want some transparency and honesty for a change. Tell us the team sucks right now, we're going to work to get better and that includes some evaluation of staff as well as players, and that we have a long way to go. Because that's the truth. Don't try to spin this into this season still meaning something, because winning the division this year should not be a priority at this point...evaluating and addressing the long-term outlook of the team needs to come first. Spoiler
Why so? Because McNair was right - Indy leads this "division" at 3-4. The Jags & Texans are next at 2-5 with the t*** bringing up the rear at 1-6. Now if this was the AFC East or West, I'd agree - we'd be dead meat on a stick. However, this is the putrid AFC South and an 8-8 team could very well win this "division". I don't like it any more than you but unfortunately this is the hand to which we've been dealt as of this point in time.
Texans somehow win division with 5-6 wins. Lose 1st playoff game by 40. Bob McNair says the season was a success.
What a shame...dude could've had a nice long career as a backup QB! But he let his ego get in the way. You gotta see the big picture..dude probley VYed himself out of the league! Manziel pay attention!
All teams in the AFC South stink, but somebody has to win it. Should they all just tank? (would be hilarious though) It's really hard to actually tank. The coach is coaching for his job. Even if the players aren't totally into it, they're still playing for their next contract. They're still playing for pride. They might be demotivated, but there's very little reason to actually give up. Of course they're going to go out and try to win. Yes, we suck. But so does the rest of our division. So why not try to salvage something by trying to win the division? I know why fans want them to quit. They want the owner to "get it" as if he doesn't know things are ****ty. They don't want the owner to be swayed by somehow backing into the playoffs by winning a ****ty division. But there's little reason for the owner, players, or coaches to want to quit. People already think McNair is a bad owner. But McNair said nothing wrong. I want an owner who wants to win all the time. I want an owner who doesn't throw his team under the bus in public. McNair quitting on his team when they're within a game of the division lead? Now that would be a bad owner.
Well what talent isn't being coached up specifically? Our good players are playing well. Our bad ones are playing bad. BOB may be a terrible coach, but this is the story of building a terrible roster.

I feel that he was about as honest as he could be publicly. He wasn't just settling or looking for the sunny side. Getting pissed off and throwing a tantrum may make one feel better today but then what? Like it or not, they still have a game Sunday and it's against a team that's even more in disarray than the Texans. This is NOT the time to be emotional and pull a Rex Ryan clown show in public. I'd expect McNair to be publicly disappointed but also calm. But privately, I'd expect McNair to let Rick & BoB know in NO uncertain terms that if they can't fix this mess they created, he'll be more than happy to find someone else who can do the job.
This goes back to far too many fans having way too narrow a focus on the Texans 24/7... This is exactly what every other owner would say... Even a loon like Jerry Jones would shovel this level of ****; in fact, he did every single year the Cowboys routinely rang up 5-8 wins....
I'm sure other owners will tell McNair that "we're on the right path", "keep doing what you're doing", "things will turn around". He'll believe it and extend Rick Smith. Rick Smith will in turn extend Wilfork, Cushing, Duane Brown, and Arian Foster.
Well said! Look, I fully get why folks here want blood - especially if they drank the battle red koolaid before the season started and had hopes that this was a playoff team. I didn't believe that but many here did. No matter, you can't put this on McNair as he's not out there missing tackles and blowing assignments on the field - that's on the players. Honestly, if you folks really think McNair is a terrible owner then you just don't know Bud:
So he texted himself, took a photo of his text, edited his name out of the photo, and then tweeted the edited photo?
To be fair, you can't tweet that many words in one tweet... but yeah, he pretty much made it as difficult as possible. To him, the solution to that problem likely mirrors his ability to read a zone blitz with a free roaming safety, press coverage, and an empty set backfield.
