Especially in light of the contracts given to Cutler, Ryan and Romo and what seems to be the trend for the upcoming years, and that the salary cap is believed to be raised over the upcoming years. An extension makes you stuck with him even longer and he has no incentive to restructure or take a pay cut because they can't cut him. Why would he take less money? You can keep saying "it's gonna happen, bro" all you want, but you aren't actually saying a reason why he'd do it. He'll know by then that if he gets a next deal, it'll be a minimum contract to be a backup like Mark Sanchez is doing this year, no way he gives up a year or two of a 7 figure contract.
Haven't watched the video, but I was at the Buffalo game years ago when he tore his ACL just before half time. I was sitting against the tunnel, about eight rows up. He was walking to the locker room with training staff just before halftime and he looked up kind of towards me. Me, being a twenty something year old kid, yelled "Owen, we need you!!!" I could tell by the look in his eyes when he looked at me, that he was done for the year.
