    Nice! Straight to the point!
Walters was mediocre at best the only
thing I'll miss is Kubie saying how great
of a blocker he is but I won't miss it more
    than a day!

They're not. The Texans were very smart with Schaub's contract. His cap hit this year is $10.8MM, a more than reasonable amount for, even at his very, very least, a functional NFL QB who successfully manages a 10-12-win team. Do you know how many teams would line up around the block to pay a QB with a 91.9 career QBR $10.8MM? His cap hit won't show up among the NFL's 10-highest paid QBs until 2015. By then, he'll have either rendered the end of 2012 a fluke, or confirmed it as the norm.

Any notion that Matt Schaub's deal has handicapped the Texans is a complete and total fallacy. What killed them is trying to keep a good but underachieving team together in 2009-2010 and then having to cash those checks, post-CBA agreement, when $9MM was lopped off the cap.

Our WR 2 production was so weak...if they simply started K. Martin, I'd feel we got better. Not that I'd be content. Lets draft a top shelf WR in the draft.

Just talked to KW for a bit...he said almost no chance he's coming back to Houston and its looking like either Tennessee or San Diego. He's hoping to sign with one of them in the next couple days.

I hope he goes to Tennessee and helps CJ2YPC return to prominence through his spectacular run blocking

Do not presume to speak for the entire forum and get just a small degree of class. Do you go through your whole life this way? Just spewing?

    Speak for yourself.

Sure, few here want Kevin Walter AT HIS PRIOR PRICE TAG or AS THE #2 RECEIVER.

But as a veteran minimum guy for receiving depth, situational blocking and special teams? I'd LOVE to have Walter on this team.

This. If he could have been restructured, I have no problem at all having him here.

Unless we sign/trade for another veteran WR, the above situation you just described will never happen. It's just not in Kubiak, or most other coaches, to let a younger player go through ups and downs on the field. Not if they have "veteran leadership" on the bench. I mean, why is Scott Brooks playing Derek "6.3 PER/33% shooter" Fisher? Because Fisher's a professional.

Kevin Walter is a professional who understand the Kubiak system. If it's between Walter and our rookie 1st round pick for the #2 WR position? Our 1st round pick is going to sit for at least half the season.

That's why the Texans organization is not doing anything to improve the WR position. There's always those fans "as long as the price is right..." blah blah blah. If thats the case I'd rather go with Martin and Jean at least there's a bit of upside. Walter topped out. It's over.

That's exactly right. If they sign Walter, he will play...and play regularly...at the expense of snaps for whoever we draft.

Good point and more reason to never consider signing him. It's best for the fans, the team to separate.

Great. Guess I know I'll be drafting CJ2YPC first in all my fantasy drafts.

The point of fantasy is to get POSITIVE production, not negative.

You don't understand. With Kevin Walter's amazing blocking ability, Chris Johnson is a shoe in for another 2,o00 yard season. Fantasy gold baby. Bank on it.
