knowing the playbook and having butterfingers aren't mutually exclusive. He had 5 years in our system... regardless of what everyone thinks of him.. we shouldn't hope he goes to a rival.
the "they have our playbook" concern is not a very good one. There are not many surprises in the NFL. Everyone knows what each other runs.
We already "lost" our playbook when Leach signed with the Ravens. We also lost our playbook to the Denver Broncos when Dreesen signed. The Bills offense will know exactly how our defense will play because we lost our playbook to them when Mario Williams signed. Thank God we dont play the Raiders this year, because Brisiel would have told them about our offense. With every player we lose, an extra team figures out exactly how we are going to attack them.
If Jacoby knew enough about our offense to actually hurt us, he probably would've produced when he was here.
Oh no, Jacoby might tell the Ravens staff that the Texans like to run Arian Foster a lot! Or throw to Andre Johnson!! Seriously, the playbook thing is a bizarre reason to fear your former players signing with other teams. It's not like every team in the league doesn't already know every other teams plays. Whether or not they can stop them, that's a whole other story.
You guys forgot Baby Shanahan taking the playbook to Washington, Sage taking it to Minny (and Miami), etc. And receivers don't know $*** about the playbook. All they're memorizing is their individual routes and blocking responsibilities. That doesn't tell anyone a damn thing. Flacco - Jacoby would be hilarious to watch.
Except Sage did tell the Giants DC about our formations/audibles/tendencies and they were all over us when they played in Houston a couple of years ago.
They were also flat out a better team than the Texans last season, and we and a lot of other teams struggled mightily against that pass rush. I have no doubt that Sage did help. If there's one player that can help a team beat his former team, it's a QB...they are much more involved in the overall gameplan than others, especially a smart guy like Sage. I don't think that's the reason we lost that game though, or why any team loses against their former players.
I dont get the worry about the playbook because teams have all the games of past seasons of other teams, so they can see what plays do they run in specific situations.
Haha seriously it's not that big of a deal. Hey teams, guess what, we're going to run Foster, then a bootleg to the right. You're welcome.

Just heard it on NFL32. Mort said he'd help take the load off Lardarius Webb in the return game. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I definitely think Jacoby can help a team in the return game, but that is a lot of money for a return guy.
