Arian could do it all on the field. Great player and man. He was great for Houstun not only because of his play, but also being interesting. Sad way to end. Wish we would've restructured him.
This is not true. People who watch tape said Wilfork was pretty good after a slow start to the year. He's definitely not the same player he was in New England, but the idea that he is terrible is false.
That's not the point. If you don't want to pay the dude, just cut him. Teams are doing it respectfully (Coltson, White), they could have done the same.
They wanted to see if he was interested in ending his career here so they were honest with him about what that would mean. They treated him like an adult and he proved that was the wrong tactic.
Thanks, Arian. You provided us with some great memories and were a part of the best teams we've had so far. I wish it could've ended differently but I certainly appreciate the classy way you're leaving. Good luck where ever you might end up.
Okay, maybe terrible wasnt the right word. He was below average though. He had some good games, but far too many poor performances. He's replaceable. I'd be okay with keeping him, but I'd also like to see what FAs become available.
Andre Johnson '15: 41 catches Texans' 2nd leading receiver, '15: 47 catches. Now, what, exactly, was stupid about it?...
I love ring of honor/retired jersey/Hall of Fame, etc., talk... Agreed that your first two #s are undoubtedly 80 and 23. And that, obviously, #99 will happen roughly 15 seconds after Watt retires. Two thoughts: 1) I hope their standard is high; 23, 80 and 99 would beat any standard; 76 is on the cusp. I would rank 59 and 56 - again, based on a higher standard - as long shots; 2) if... IF you're telling me the Texans would, one day down the road, entertain 59 and 56.............. I know I'm stepping in it but............... doesn't 8 rank ahead of both of those guys?
It wasn't a mistake; no matter what happens, releasing him was the right move. He's old, injured and expensive.
