The play before this pic was taken, @ajohnson1500 had just been ejected from the game for giving a two piece & a biscuit to lil dude from the Titans. Teams cleared the bench, scuffles all over the place, and the energy in #Reliant was crazy... The very next play, it's 4th & 1. Nobody heads to the sideline because there's no way we aren't going to go for it. Kubs inserts @arianfoster in the game. He calls our F U come stop us play "19 weak", and as you can see, there was no way we weren't going to pick up that first down Only one guy in this picture (@duanebrown76) still remains on the @houstontexans roster... Crazy how time flies... The great ones come and go, but these moments live on forever. Salute to another "Great One" that is moving on @arianfoster. To me it wasn't the money he made....cuz he was THAT good! it was the availability. It just got to the point we expected no availability and that was a problem, and yea we got a chance at one of the top 2 RBs in the draft so that was a contributing factor
From undrafted free agent behind Jerimiah Johnson in training camp to All Pro and greatest running back in team history, he'll be missed. Swag, sound bites big plays and of course the bow. Farewell sweet prince
Thought it was the opposite, he said they wouldn't cut him due to his salary. Guess it doesn't really matter the reason though, bringing him back just didn't make sense for the team. Hopefully he can recover and make a run with a good team.
Cutting Wilfork and Hoyer is tempting but really it doesn't *need* to happen. Both of them are only slightly above their market rate right now, and their replacements likely would not outperform them... if not significantly underperform. We're better off letting them both play out their deals and leave next year, unless some awesome free agent turns up at our door this Spring asking for $$$.
"As it relates to all the free agent conversations, I'm never really going to tell you one way or the other what we are doing, but I will tell you this: his salary is not a reason why we would cut Arian," Smith said. ___________________ <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Cuts of Arian Foster ($6.625 million), Garrett Graham ($3.125 million) and soon Rahim Moore ($2.068 million) to create $11.818M in cap room</p>— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/AaronWilson_NFL/status/705430966374785024">March 3, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Texans will be $42.149 million under cap limit with 54 current contracts before extending any RFA, EFA tenders or re-signing UFAs</p>— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/AaronWilson_NFL/status/705431141738614784">March 3, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Absolutely loved watching Arian Foster, one of my favorite players of all time. Vision, strength, speed, catching, and blocking abilities were off the charts. Best of luck as to Arian to continue his great career. Thanks for all of the great memories.
Was so fun watching him run that outside zone. Really made the offense go once he entrenched himself as the full-time starter. Wonder if he'll walk away from the game or try to get one more paycheck? Thanks for the memories, Arian. Namaste.
Would have only saved a couple million cutting Cushing, so it wouldnt have made any sense to make that move. Even cutting Cushing next year is questionable if he remains healthy in 2016.
don't quote/reply to half the post and you may figure it out. we are well under the cap space as is - don't have a running back in the fold - need a qb, rb, te and many other positions to fill. we haven't gotten through free agency or the draft and could cut him or even restructure him much later while taking a free look at him during training camp depending on how the two aforementioned periods played out. By holding onto him longer (potentially into camp) you also reduce his open market alternatives and increase your leverage in negotiations. It's the patriot way of thinking that I thought we were gravitating towards.
Cutting Hoyer absolutely needs to happen, save BOB from himself, if you don't cut Hoyer, he'll be starting at some point and that means the Texans losing games they should win.
"...ejected from the game for giving a two piece & a biscuit to lil dude from the Titans" Can't say I've ever heard that one, awesome.
The chances that a QB will come in and out-perform Hoyer are pretty small. That's not praise of Hoyer as much as it is realistic expectations for whatever Rookie we throw out there.
Not true at all. The Texans brought in several QB's off the couch and they all out-performed Hoyer. If cut by the Texans, Hoyer will be out of the league entirely....and that's probably why his boy BOB won't want him cut. I would hope literally anyone they brought in would be better than Hoyer, which only means them being an NFL caliber QB.
