I would be surprised if we didn't finish .500. Remember, this team lost a lot of close games due to bad coaching. To me, this is a .500 team... for whatever that's worth.
You don't draft Quinn if you have Adrian Peterson sitting there. Adrian Peterson is a game changing back that we never had. Quinn might be just a system quarterback.
Over. Hopefully we're not so bad that we have a shot at either Quinn or AP. Then again, if you're going to go under - do it right and tank!
Quinn plays in an offense that's as close to an NFL Pro-Style offense as there is in college football. He's got a great arm and a great teacher in Charlie Weis. I think he'll do just fine in the NFL. I still have issues with Peterson though. Watch his running style, he literally rams through lines and breaks through for big runs because he's just so much more physical than the average college line. However, that really presents two issues. 1) He could seriously fall apart doing that. We saw what happened last year and he was injured pretty much the entire time, and I think there's legitimate fear to think he could hurt himself again. 2)Unless you're Jerome Bettis, that style of running just doesn't fly in the NFL. He'll either suceed for a little while only to being a perpetual injury from the beating or he'll just flat out fall apart.
Quinn may go on to be a good quarterback but after the Texans gave Carr that big deal and having a bunch of average backs on the team you just can't afford to pass up Peterson next year after passing on Bush this year.
1st, peterson's injury was a high ankle sprain. that's a very common sports injury and not atypical to his running style. speaking of which... 2nd, his running style is not 100% between the tackles, run you over earl campbell style. yes, he does enjoy running dbs into the dirt, but peterson actually has the speed to turn the corner and outrun people.
Yea this guy might come and rush for 1,200 or 1,300yds his rookie season. I think he is that good. As much as i like Bush i think I would take Peterson over him if I had to pick.
Just my $.02, best case scenario, they win 7, worst case scenario, they win 3 or 4. My guess would be 6 depending on injuries. I think they'll be improved on both sides of the ball, but their depth is scary.
I'd say under or best case a push. Carr still has not proven he can lead a team to a winning season and the D has more holes than a Shawn Kemp condom.
Eagles Win- Texans start off season with a bang @Colts Loss- Manning exploits depleted secondary Redskins Loss- Tough defense stifles our offense Dolphins Loss- Culpepper has a huge day Bye @Cowboys Win- Dunta Robinson injures TO with a vicious hit...JK Mario Williams has a huge day by getting a couple sacks Bledsoe the statue. Gary Kubiak truly can turn this franchise in the right direction.
4-12, and Texans fans will still say its an improvement. I don't trust David Carr to get us many wins.
I cant predict any wins or losses. All I ask is that the Texans look like a real football team this season instead of what we witnessed last year.
He is definitely the man to do it. I hated Bill Byrne here in College Station when he decided to hire Dennis Franchione over Gary Kubiak. Kubiak openly wanted the job, but I don't think he even got an interview. The Texans will win 6 games this year and will be a contender (10 wins at least) in 2007.
