I am happy, the Ravens and the Texans came through at the end. The Texan's, as an organization, have a moral and ethical imperitive to lose the remaining games and get the highest draft pick in the first and in subsequent rounds. The least expensive way to improve next year is to use this year to allow us to aquire the best talent available. Hurrah, the Texans did well today.
WOOOOHOOOOO!!! What a game. I thought the Ravens were going to screw up there at the end, but the Texans came through. REGGIE! REGGIE! REGGIE!
that'd be ****ing awesome a potential 16 game loser and a 16 game winner in the same season. damn texans :\
Here is my biggest frustration with the Texans. Its not that they are so incompetant that they can't execute the plays (they are, but thats beside the point). Its that with the exception of the three long passes per game to AJ...and Dominick Davis breaking tackles...when we do execute our plays flawlessly and they run exactly the way they are drawn up in the playbook we gain either 3 or 4 yards, because that is what 99% of our plays are DESIGNED to do. A perfect series for the Texans is two four yard rushes and a 3 yard quick hitter pass to Gaffney. So if we execute FLAWLESSLY we get a first down. If we maintain that kind of perfect execution for 4 series, we might have a chance at a field goal....if we do it 6 or 7 times in a drive then and only then can we geta TD. Dom Capers idea of being a wildman and letting it all hang out is calling for a seven yard curl pattern, and even then they have to bust out the difibrilator and shock him a couple times because his heart cant stand the strain of being that aggressive. I watched the Ed Biles led Houston Oilers go 2-14...but I never considered not watching them play. This team I may have to find something better to do on Sundays.
Not much into football, but I know the Texans were 1-10. Funny reading y'all's reactions when the Texans made a good play, wasn't sure I was watching the right game. Then I got it. I still think Carr sucks though, maybe, just maybe, we can trade Carr for another high pick and draft Leinart.. Probably not.. Welcome to Texas, Reggie.
These last two games really have been entertaining to watch. Not from any sort of sports perspective, obviously, but just from a chaos theory vantage. To have ANY CHANCE of winning, St. Louis HAS to get an onside kick, which nobody ever does... AND THEY DO. To have ANY CHANCE, Baltimore has to force a huge turnover in the 4th quarter... and they DO! And THEN, they have to drive it down in 25 seconds for a field goal... and they DO! The choking skills of the Texans simply can't be underestimated. It's NEVER over against Houston! It doesn't matter if your QB is Boller or even some 3rd string douche from Harvard, you always control your own destiny in the 4th quarter. Unless Reggie Bush can play some defense, it's going to be another awesome ride next year, too!
Which is one of the reasons that I'm still not sure that Reggie Bush should be the pick. Yes, he's an amazing talent, but RB is probably the strongest position on the team. We have so many holes, that I think we might be better served looking at other positions. A trade down might be the best option if we can get a deal similar to what the Chargers got for both Vick and Eli.
I realize that there are other factors at play here, but you have to also consider how well the Giants and Falcons are doing from their trades with the Chargers...
So true. I guess we're just going to have to face the fact that no matter what we do with the #1 pick, our troubles ain't over just yet.
I know, it's just that in taking Bush we're replacing one of our few strengths, and ignoring our numerous holes. We couldn't beat a bad Ravens team with DD rushing for 150+ yards, is Bush really going to make us that much better? I'm not debating Bush's talent, I just don't know if he's the right fit for Houston, especially if we could parlay him into a top 5 pick and a second rounder this year plus a first rounder next year. BTW, the Giants and Atlanta didn't trade for Vick and Eli with a 3000 yard passer on their roster. We already have our 1000 yard back.
that's the thing with everyone having an orgasm over bush davis ain't half bad, save the #1 pick for a position that needs it.
One way or another, they find a way to lose. It's actually more interesting now to see in what way they will blow it every week. After 1-11, it's hard to believe that they are many more ways of losing a football game.
The Texans scared me for awhile, they all most blew it, but fortunately, we are still winning the first pick derby.
I don't think that saying Davis is a strength on a 1-10 team is that big a deal. I mean they're 1 and 10!! Davis is a solid running back, no question, but he's not the type of runner that makes two guys miss and goes 70 yards for a score. That's the thing with Reggie Bush. From what people in football say about him, he's that type of game breaker whether it's running the ball or taking swing passes out of the backfield or returning punts. It looks to me like he's the type of player that entire defenses gear up to stop. That opens up the offense for everyone else. We need that kind of big time weapon. Despite Casserly's horrible record with the Texans, competent linemen are a lot easier to find than game breaking offensive players.
