How? How? How? I'm no football expert. I genuinely want to know. What I saw was the D-line being overwhelmed all day long by the run and getting precious little pressure on the QB. When we're upset about the secondary being suckered on run plays, isn't there a problem at the line??? If the line does its job, we're only riding Bennett for sucking at coverage. Bad line play, bad secondary play, guys unprepared and making repeated mistakes. Did I just highlight the answer to the question? Seriously -- fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Was Bennett not told by the coaching staff how stupid that was? If he was, then why the hell was he still on the field after the second time? I can't fathom how any part of this D beyond cushing, mario, and demeco were anything but entirely incompetent yesterday--including and especially the coaching. So please enlighten me--and I ask with no vitriol whatsoever. The biggest likelihood here is that I don't know what I'm talking about.
i'd be fascinated to know ifthey're actively pursuing possibly available players and willing to spend draft choices to get 'em. it's too early to panic; but it's not too early to conclude your personnel on defense is lacking. kubiak and smith are playing for their jobs this year - i'd love to know if they're calling the st. louis and detroits of the world to see what might be available.
which part? you actively campaigning for a coach that will get pissed off? because that's what i was responding to: it's a silly idea and an even sillier qualification for a coach.
I think a silly qualification for a coach is one that has never coached before and after 4 yrs still doesn't seem to have gotten any better. Obviously I don't feel that should get a coach just cause he gets pissed off. If you think that anyone would feel that way then you're missing something. When a coach gets pissed off he has the ability to lite a fire under the players which is clear that this is what the #1 thing this team is missing. Seen at the difference in play vs the Titans,
hold on - let me stop you.... are you aware the fire-pissing bill cowher had never coached before he started pissing fire in pittsburgh? i think it'd be hard to argue kubiak hasn't gotten better. the offense certainly has since he's been here - *light years* better. it's among the nfl's best. the defense has regressed, obviously - that's ultimately on him. but i wouldn't label his tenure as getting progressively worse. record alone disproves that. fair enough... wait - wha??? so you don't think they should get a coach just because he gets pissed off... but it's clear the #1 thing this team is missing is... a coach that gets pissed off? (rereads your last paragraph again just to confirm... yep, that's what you're saying....) kubiak gets plenty pissed off, btw. justice has written several articles about there being *too much* yelling from the coaches. what they need, more than anger, is better coaching and personnel on the defensive side of the football.
Cowher is just a coach I threw out there who has a winning background. I could care less who it is and long as they show passion and have a winning history and throw the red flags when appropriate.
I'll coach. I go undefeated with the Texans every year on Madden. Oh yeah...and I get pretty pissed when I'm losing...no slacking off on my team.
Just lost all credibility with that post. @jojobabbu; Did you see the job he did with the Bucs or are you just now getting into football? Rooks, ridiculous.
I don't think Dungy could help this group of losers. I see Dungy as a finesse type coach. I'd rather have a Bill Belichick type
It is becoming more and more apparent that Kubiak may have been the guy to get us to respectablity but may not be the guy to take us to the promise land. We tried the defensive coach in Capers and the Offensive guy in Kubiak so were do we go from here? You go for an experienced guy who has a proven track record like a Cowher, Holmgren or Dungy. Cowher - If the Cowboys, Panthers and Texans jobs are all open next offseason we have NO CHANCE. Dungy - He would be intriguing but from all I've read it would take alot for him to come out of retirement. Holmgren - Probably has the best chance because the guy has coached great defenses while maintaining high quality offenses. Darkhourse guy would be Gruden who was meantioned above. The guy is a proven winner, on the wierd side a bit with the whole QB thing but the he wins and is still young enough to innovative.
