Of course other things can happen but assume Denver can win more more game and New England wins their division Denver is 5th seed [Indy, SD. Cinci, NE division winners] Titans and Steelers have tough games this week and we only need 1 loss out of the final 3 for both of them Miami we would have tie breaker (same for NE if Miami wins the division) So since we are asking for a whole lot to happen lets assume this does and you have Jets 7-6 Ravens 7-6 Jags 7-6 Texans 6-7 Texans need to win out and go 9-7 all of these teams hold the tie breaker over the Texans so they all must go 1-2 or worse Jets Atl @Ind Cin (I can see 2 losses there) Ravens Chi @Pit @Oak (we need big time help here) Jags Ind @NE @Cle (I can see them losing 2 here) Anyway I see more than 1 9-7 team but if the Texans can win out there is a chance and I think we would at least wake up the last Sunday of the season with some hope
A few weeks ago, it looked difficult even at 10-6 because of Pittsburgh being pretty well locked into that. Them completely collapsing has really opened things up. Baltimore looks like the difficult one. I think they beat Chicago easily. You have to hope Gradkowski is back by week 17 and hope they can repeat their performances vs. Pitt and Cinci and see if they can sweep that whole division. Not likely, but certainly not impossible.
cool little playoff generator on yahoo. if we do win out and baltimore can somehow lose 2 out of these three games: (CHI, @ PIT, @ OAK) then we would most likely get in it looks like

Dang, I don't see BAL losing 2 of 3 to those teams. Especially now with Gradkowski hurt, although he may be back for the last game. In fact, I think they win all three of them pretty easily.
So basically, our playoff hopes might end up in Al Davis' hands? fml We really don't deserve it if you ask me. It's nice that at least these games have some meaning, no matter how marginal it is, but if we can't beat Jacksonville with it all on the line then we shouldn't be in the playoffs. Playing along though- on top of Baltimore falling apart, we REALLY need Miami to beat Tennessee this weekend too. I don't know how motivated San Diego is gonna be in two weeks since they might have the bye week clinched. I can see Tennessee as the favorite against them at home. But if the Titans beat Miami and San Diego (then taking out the trash with Seattle), they've got us beat out no matter what, even if we win out.
As long as we are in the playoff chase at 12pm on Jan 3 I would be happy Texans fan. Even though that would mean we win one pressure game out of five. Then if we win against against the Pats Kubiak deserves an extentsion if he loses he deserves to return for a 5th season
Jets beat us head-to-head, so no. They would get in in that case. I kinda overlooked them- they are catching Atlanta at the right time, and probably Indy too since by next week Indy may very well be coasting. If we went 9-7, we hold the tiebreaker over Miami since it takes a win against them to do it. Other than that, all the other contenders have to go 8-8 for us to get in (assuming Denver will take the 5th spot).
No if we and Miami and Jets Tie we go cuz we would be in a three way tie. First Miami and Jets would break the tie and Miami would win that. Then we would go up against Miami and we would win that since we won head to head.
the two indy games the last Titans game the last Jax game and Miami game All others are not very pressure packed b/c the teams were not good or too early in the season.
I think when it is win or prepare to play golf (and have your coach out on his a$$) that is pretty pressure packed.
The Steelers and Ravens absolutely despise each other, and the Steelers are likely going to be in a lose-and-eliminated position heading into that game. With it in Pittsburgh, I think you'll get the Steelers best effort in that one. The tricky part is going to be getting a loss at Oakland or hoping Cutler can catch fire this weekend. It goes without saying that we're all against Baltimore. Beyond that, we really need either Miami to beat Tennessee or Atlanta to beat the Jets. I'm not really worried about Tennessee - the only way the Chargers clinch a bye this weekend is if they win and Denver loses at home to Oakland and the Patriots lose to Buffalo. Highly unlikely SD isn't playing for a bye when they meet Tennessee. But the Jets are a problem. I think we can all agree they're likely to lose at Indy in the second-to-last week. But beyond that, we either need Miami to win out besides Houston (so that they can knock Jets out) or for the Jets to drop another one - most likely this weekend to ATL. (In any scenario that's positive for Houston, Baltimore loses, so Cincinnati would likely have the AFC North wrapped up by the time they head to NY the last weekend.) In summary: go Bears, go Dolphins, go Falcons. PS: I'd also cheer for the Steelers. I think the Texans have the Steelers beat in any tiebreaker (they'd tie on conference record, but Texans better among common opponents), so I think it'd be good for them to beat Green Bay and get a little confidence (and stay mathematically alive for the postseason) heading into that huge game with Baltimore. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Oooh. Pretty. Of course, then we go ahead and beat the Bengals, because, c'mon, it's the Bengals, been there, done that. Then the rivalry match-up with the Colts. It's payback time, you know what I'm saying. And all of a sudden you're in the AFC Championship game against the Broncos, Pats or Chargers. Easy win. Superbowl here we come. The NFC sucks, so I say we win that, too. Texans finish season on an 8 game win streak to bring home the trophy! Oh man, time to wake up.
What are the chances of the Nets and T-Wolves meeting in the NBA Finals? Seriously though, I've already resigned myself to the fact this team isn't making the playoffs. If we win our next 2 games and all the other necessary things happen, then I'll allow myself to get my hopes up again... only to be crushed shortly thereafter.
