I don't know why the Bengals would not go for the 3rd seed. First of all, you get an easier opponent in the wild card round. Second, the Bengals know they could go to San Diego and beat them because they almost did two weeks ago. Third, if the Bengals and Patriots make it to the AFC Conference Championship, the Bengals get home field advantage because there the 3rd seed.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4784946 Source: Marshall expected to play Despite injuring his hamstring in practice Wednesday, Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is expected to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Having Marshall available to play greatly aids the Broncos (8-7), who need to beat the last-place Chiefs in their regular-season finale and get some assistance if they're going to qualify for the playoffs. Marshall was seen grabbing the back of his right leg during the portion of practice open to the media. He later spent some with the team's trainer. In Wednesday's team injury report, Marshall was listed as participating in the practice on a limited basis. The Broncos are depleted at receiver -- Eddie Royal nursing a head/neck injury and rookie Kenny McKinley being moved to injured reserve earlier this week. Along with Marshall, Brandon Stokley, Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Lloyd are Denver's healthy receivers. There are at least 10 different scenarios that can allow the Broncos to get into the postseason. The simplest is if two of these three lose: Baltimore, Pittsburgh and the New York Jets. The Ravens travel to Oakland, while Pittsburgh plays in Miami and the Jets host AFC North champion Cincinnati.
Man I hate everything we have to rely on and thats only if we win. This team seems to love 8-8 so who knows. I had a dream last night that us and Baltimore won, while Denver and NYJ lost. Guess that how much I've been thinking about it. It doesn't help that with the days off and college football I keep forgetting its not Saturday. Damn it Sunday, get here sooner! If nothing else I hope we win so we're not last in the division. Again. I'm keeping an open mind, but am trying to temper the enthusiasm. [NERDSPEAK] Do not trust a hope. They have forsaken this land. [/NERDSPEAK]
Brandon Marshall will be benched for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. Great news for the Texans. http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos...-broncos+(Denver+Post:+Sports:+Broncos:+Blog)
HUGE news...Is it me or are things starting to lineup perfectly for the Texans... 1) Marshall out 2) Ocho Cinco calling out Revis which means he might play all out. I sure hope we hear something about Ray Rice being out too lol
I'd say that we have a decent shot of having things fall our way on Sunday. Had the colts beaten the Jets, I'd almost be certain the Texans would be in.
We are gonna get in Ravens will win and be the 5th seed but Denver is doing their annual choke job and the Bengals will beat the Jets
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4788055 WR Marshall won't play against Chiefs Comment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said Friday that he was benching Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall for the team's critical season finale Sunday against Kansas City. McDaniels wouldn't directly address the reasons for his decision, though he mentioned accountability and said several other players will play Sunday with injuries worse than Marshall's. Marshall tweaked his right hamstring at practice Wednesday. Marshall said he didn't want to get into a war of words, but he did note that McDaniels never played professionally to realize how difficult it is to compete while you're hurt. "Coach never played in the NFL," Marshall told reporters after the decision, according to KDVR-TV, Denver's Fox affiliate. "I'm going to handle this professionally." The two had a rocky start together, culminating in Marshall's suspension during training camp for insubordination, but they had patched up their differences during the season. Marshall had sat out practice for the second straight day Thursday with a strained right hamstring that he suffered running a route. McDaniels said Thursday he wasn't sure how serious the injury was. Marshall was recently named to his second straight Pro Bowl honor and has caught at least 100 passes for three straight seasons. There are at least 10 different scenarios that can allow the Broncos (8-7) to get into the postseason. The simplest is if two of these three lose: Baltimore, Pittsburgh and the Jets. The Ravens travel to Oakland, while Pittsburgh plays in Miami and the Jets host AFC North champion Cincinnati.
Marshall not playing should help. Again though, I would feel really good if it weren't for the colts doing what they did. I think that move should cost Caldwell any Coach of the Year consideration.
Tony Scheffler also out because of a bad attitude plus Eddie Royal may not play because of his neck injury. Kansas City is attritious against the run but Knowshon Moreno has been terrible the last three games. Correll Buckhalter has been much better but McDaniels doesn't give him the ball that much.
I noticed while watching the Texas Bowl yesterday that they painted the endzones. I hope they are able to paint the endzones deep steel blue for Sunday's game. In my opinion, the field looks better with the endzones painted. They shouldn't have to worry about the grass dying or anything since this will be the last game at Reliant until August.
Sorry. I meant to put the above post in the Patriots @ Texans thread. It doesn't really matter, I guess.
Well, if Baltimore or Denver loses their game, then it will come down to the last game of the season on NBC, Sunday night. I will be extremely disappointed if the Bengals lay down like the Colts did (eff you Colts, why don't you WANT to go undefeated??)
Hope Ocho Cinco is as good as he thinks he is, b/c Revis has been a STUD this year. Don't want Palmer picking on that dude all game long...
If both Baltimore and Denver lose in the 3 pm games then the Texans are in and are simply watching SNF to see where they are going.
