who the **** are you talking to? I never said anything about people not being frustrated by what the Colts did. Hell, I complained myself in the post you quoted. Calm down.
Pittsburgh doesn't affect us at all. Not sure if your summary is strictly texans related or AFC in general?
How will Belichick manage the roster? December, 28, 2009 Dec 2810:10AM ETEmail Print Share By Mike ReissOne storyline to monitor this week will be Bill Belichick’s approach in the season finale at Houston. It seems clear that injured players such as nose tackle Vince Wilfork (foot) and Ty Warren (ankle) won’t play, so they can take another week to rest. Less clear is how Belichick will manage quarterback Tom Brady and other starters. “I’m sure he’ll have his own ideas, and really down in Foxborough, it’s not like it’s a democracy anyway. We don’t sit around and take votes of what we’re going to do. It’s a one-man show,” Brady said during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI, while interviewed on the Dennis & Callahan show by Butch Stearns and Christian Fauria. “There is a lot at stake for us. The first and second seed are figured out, but the 3, 4, 5 and 6, no one really knows about those. You don’t really play for position when you really don’t know who your opponent is going to be, nor does it really matter who the opponent is going to be. We’re going to have to beat a good team.” Brady was asked if players talk about how much they’ll play in situations like these. “The way our team is, we had a good week this week. We had probably our best week in a long time, and I think it was for a lot of reasons. I think it would be great to see if we can carry that over again, if we can kind of put together another good week,” Brady answered. “You don’t want to make it seem like one week we’re a team that looks like we did yesterday, and the next week we’re a team that looks like we played against the Bills. I said after the game, it was probably our best week of practice all season. It was probably one of our best games all season. If we can go out and put together another great week of practice, that’s only going to help us for what’s ahead. “Obviously, we’re not playing the playoff game this week. We’re playing the Texans, who are definitely a playoff-caliber team. Whether they make it or not, it’s going to be a great test for us. I’d love to see us go down there and put together the same type of effort.” At the same time, Brady acknowledged that clinching the division gives Belichick important flexibility in his decision-making process. "Whether it's a break mentally or physically, obviously if there are guys that are banged up, I don't think guys coming back from injuries, you're not going to put guys out there that really aren't capable of playing, which you probably would do if it were a playoff game. But I think it's great for us players to go prepare and be ready to go play a team that presents some different challenges. "You can get hurt at any point. Everyone always says 'injuries, injuries' but the reality is you can be hurt the first play of a playoff game. That's just the way it is. Hopefully you have enough depth to overcome one injury, two injuries. It's just a matter of us doing that. Who knows what Coach is going to do? I think we're all preparing [to play the whole game]. I think that's what I'd prefer to do." http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-.../4673290/how-will-belichick-manage-the-roster
I'm not sure that's incentive at all. The Chargers are probably playing better on both sides of the ball than Indy right now. While Indy has the better record, they've looked more vulnerable, and if I'm going into the playoffs, I'd rather go through them than SD.
Maybe, but keep in mind that just last week, Cincinnati played the Chargers down to the wire in San Diego in what was basically a coin-flip game. I imagine they'd like another crack at them.
Mostly. Texans have to win, and two out of the Jets/Broncos/Ravens have to lose. Technically the Jets don't have to lose, but it's definitely hard to see both the Chiefs and Raiders springing upsets.
Certainly true. But at the end of the day, they didn't win the Superbowl. So how does that suggest that was a good thing (doesn't mean it was a bad thing either, of course)? Beyond that, them playing full-speed against the Giants gave New York live practice against them and their various schemes, which very well may have contributed to the Patriots loss a few weeks later. I think it's just organizational philosophy - there's nothing to suggest one way is better than the other, and the Colts earned the right to do whatever they want by going 14-0. Interestingly, this same scenario could play out in the Patriots vs Texans game. If the Patriots go all out and lose, there's a decent chance they have to face each other again in week 1 of the playoffs. If they don't play full out, same scenario, but at least they get to see the Texans playing full speed while they don't give away any of their "ideal" game plan against the Texans. If nothing else, they may play their guys but use very basic offensive and defensive playcalling.
As for the Colts thing...I wish there was a bit more of the feeling of responsibility to play competitively down the stretch in the NFL...especially when games have playoff implications. I can understand why there's not...injuries are far more likely in football than baseball.
I think Marvin Lewis will try to win this game..especially in the spot light on Sunday night. You know Ochocinco isn't going to lay down..you know Palmer isn't going to lay down..after the season they have had being on Hard Knocks, the first game loss fluke to the Broncos, and the tragedies they have endured with Zimmer losing his wife and the Chris Henry...they are playing to WIN. The Bengals are a better team also. F the Jets and Rex Ryan. I hope they get punked at home!!!!!
As long as the Texans win I'll be happy because they did everything they could to get in the playoffs BUT I WANT TOM BRADY & CO TO PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME.
I just don't understand the decision to not play Manning, Wayne, Clark and company. Two series? That's all it takes to win the football game. You can't hand the game over to the Jets when other teams are fighting hard to make the playoffs. That stinks. It may have cost me a fantasy football championship as well .
You'll learn next time to trade all significant players on unbeaten teams before the 11th game of the season.
Oh there is no wrong or right as far as what week to rest starters. But all the indications in the game yesterday said that Indy should not have rested their starters when they did. They looked very sloppy on offense. If they were going to rest them, they either do it after a series or two in the first half(like many teams who rest the starters), or to start the 2nd half(where many other teams rest their starters). It rubbed people the wrong way that once the game got competitive again Caldwell picked up his [starters] and went home. I am not really sure, especially with a week next week of resting starters and a bye week, if the Colts will even get to the AFC Champ game. They looked poor yesterday. Dropping passes, missing assignments, etc. Teams often try to just flip the switch, and it doesnt always work.
And they will...as much as I dislike Belichek...he does have a considerable amount of integrity (excluding the stealing of other teams signs through video recordings) and I expect nothing but the best players on the field for NE quarters 1 through 4. Besides, If we want to make any stink in the playoffs we'll be going up against the best and this is a great way to get things started.
I love how the schedule is playing out for week 17. Don't have to scoreboard watch during the Texans game. We can be excited about 'the biggest win in Texans history'.....at least for a few hours.
