Jesus YES we got it. If the texans wouldn't have fumbled on the 1 against Jax, if they would have converted 1st and goal on the 1 at Arizona, if they would have tied the games at Indy and hosting Tenn with a FG, if they would have not blown a 17-0 lead on Indy at home they would not bet here. YES WE GET IT. We know the texans have made mistakes and taken themselves out of the ability to control playoff destiny. Even still, it's possible to get upset when teams who need to lose so we can make it to the playoffs for the 1st time, don't lose. Is that really hard to get? Would it make you feel better if after every complaint that someone makes againt the colts, they add a * acknowledging that the Texans put themselves in this position? No matter what, it's frustrating. I didn't watch the Colts game. It sucks to see that when we actually needed them to be good and all playing, they weren't. woops, I forgot my * !!!!!!!
I would love to see both the Jets and Texans make the playoffs now. Why the Jets? So, they can knock the Colts out of the playoffs of course.
How could the Jets knock out the Colts from the playoffs? They weren't doing too well against Peyton until Caldwell yanked out his starters.
Pats had it locked up at 14-0 no? They didnt rest their starters. Giants had their play-off spot locked up on week 17, yet they still played hard against the patriots who arguably had more to play for(perfect season). That Giants team who had nothing to gain by playing their starters in week 18 beat that same Pats team in the Super Bowl. Only instance I can remember of a team resting their starters in week 17 and 18 are the Broncos one year I think in the late 90s.
I hope the Jets don't make it. I hate watching Rex Ryan on the sideline. He reminds me of the pillsbury doughboy
I don't think a Bengals win over the Jets seems so unlikely. Mark Sanchez is a turnover machine so it depends on how they plan the offense around him. I'm assuming they will continue to rely heavily on the run game, which could possibly lead to turnovers as well. The game will certainly not be a pushover. Every team enjoys to have the privilege of knocking another out of the playoff picture, and I'm sure the Bengals will still have Chris Henry on their minds.
I was fuming when I was watching Painter's candy arse out there. He almost ruined my day. After the dust settled, I've realized that week 17 is relevant for the Texans for the first time ever. Yes it's disappointing that we lost so many heart breakers & our chances are extremely slim but atleast we're still in this thing!
The Ravens and Broncos will be playing back-against-the-wall football to get in the playoffs, and its hard to see either Oakland or KC getting a win over one of them.Chances are slim but still possible, just gotta hope for the best.
And conversely, KC and Oakland would LOVE to spoil their seasons! As long as the Texans can handle their business... The possibility is there for the first time ever!
If the Texans get in I can see them in the AFC title game First round would most likely be at Cincinnati Second would be at Indy We have beaten Cinci there and have had Indy beat twice If we get in it's most likely as the 6th seed and that means the Bengals would have to knock off the Jets and end up as the 3rd seed Indy has the top spot locked up So who is ready to make plans to San Diego?
You know to be able to wake up on the morning of our final regular season game and be able to say hey by the end of this day we could be a PLAYOFF team just feels so good to me right now. So proud of the team for today's performance. Now aside from that back to scenarios: Week 17 - Starting 12 p (CST) New England (10-5) @ Houston Texans (8-7) Pittsburgh (8-7) @ Miami Dolphins (7-8) Week 17 Starting 3:15p (CST) Baltimore Ravens (8-7) @ Oakland Raiders (5-10) Kansas City (3-12) @ Denver Broncos (8-7) Week 17 Starting at 7:20 (CST) Cincinnati Bengals (10-5) @ New York Jets (8-7) Looking at this if the Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers take care of business the pressure will be on the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos (and it pretty much already is anyway) but hopefully it will be a little more pressureful maybe so much so that hopefully it ends up being catastrophic for them. The Cincinnati Bengals by the start of their game will probably be playing out scenario after scenario over and over again based on the outcome of their game with the Jets. OUR GAME is so critical, mainly because if we don't win we're done, but also because if we can just somehow force the Bengals to have to play they may want to consider playing a team that has never been to the playoffs in us (although they probably do already know how dangerous we could be seeing as to how we have beaten them already) but also in a sense dictate what they believe would be their best way through the 2009/10 NFL Playoffs. They probably don't want anything to do with the Colts and since their affair with the San Diego Chargers ended with a valiant hard fought loss by a game winning field goal they may just believe their best shot in the NFL playoffs is by winning their initial game at home and then playing at San Diego rather than at Indy. All this being said I just hope they show up for this game and don't just pull a Jim Caldwell on us and rest their players and not care. The Jets shouldn't even deserve being in such a favorable position after not even realizing that they weren't yet eliminated from playoff contention. All this being said here's to hope guys.
One slight positive: by flexing the Jets-Bengals game until night, the Bengals will know, based on our game, if they have something to play for. If the Texans take care of business against NE, the Bengals would be able to get the No. 3 seed with a win and book a trip to SD, rather than Indy, for the second round (if they win in the first, of course). Is that enough of an incentive to avoid resting starters? I don't know. But it's at least some incentive, so there's hope.
