The Colts have said for weeks that a perfect season was irrelevant to them. I think it's stupid to give up a chance at that, but they apparently weren't lying! And if you're going to rest players and you have the luxury, it's better to do it for a half in each week, especially if you have a bye week - that way, you can keep some of your timing and stuff. Resting everyone week 17 is a recipe for disaster.
God this move still baffles me. I just look back to the Pats unbeaten season. No way would you ever have seen bill take Brady out without an insurmountable lead. Grats on wasting a possible perfect season.
See I think they will play their guys because they are still playing for the 3rd seed...Pats don't really care but Bengals I am sure would rather play the Jets then the Ravens. Optimist look of things
Jets have to lose to the Bengals and either Baltimore or Denver have to lose. If the Jets beat the Bengals, both Baltimore and Denver have to lose.
We need to beat NE Jets win next week, we need both Den and Balt to lose Jets lose next week, we need Den or Balt to lose
So do the Bengals have ANY incentive to play their starters next week? Can they move up in playoff position with a win?
Without knowing who's in the 5 or 6 spots, there's really no benefit to being the 3 or 4 seed. In fact, I'd say the Colts are probably more vulnerable than the Chargers right now, so it's kind of better to be the 4 seed. But Cinci should play all their guys just because they are way out of sync (and have been for the last 6 weeks or so) and need the live practice.
The Colts and Jim Caldwell will be getting a nice welcome sign during their next trip to Houston next year
I doubt Bengals play their main guys a lot next year. Even if they play their guys, Jets still could win because Bengals are not playing well right now.
