Who was the Texans running back that broke his leg in a pre season game last year? Is he still with the team and are they expecting him to compete for a roster spot this year?
..just got back from first colony mall...saw dunta robinson there...i dont think anyone knew it was him. lol just felt like sharing with yall cuz havent seen any of texans in person before.
I met Sloan Thomas and Brian Pittman (long snapper) at the Austin Dave & Busters. They were on a lunch break during their summer press tour through Central Texas. Very nice guys.
Darn it ( ) nobody knows who I'm trying to think of? I've searched the preseason game threads last year but I didn't see any mention of it. Another Texan I've been trying to remember is the one who injured his back or neck in the very first scrimmage or practice session with the Cowboys. He was carried off on a stretcher and I believe he was let go a couple of weeks later. Any help?
Thank you very much. It was bugging me, I've been reading old articles about last year preseason games and none of them helped.
Evans was injured in the 2002 Hall of Fame Game against the Giants, not against the Cowboys. He wasn't let go a couple weeks later. Injured players are sent to the injured reserve list. Evans wasn't re-signed for 2003.

Pitts played fairly well at tackle in year two (the fewest sack allowed during their existence). I don't think this means Wand has failed. He is a massive man that might have more success against the larger tackles inside that rely on strength vs speed. Plus there weren't many games I watched where I thought Wand was the only problem. Additionally in the last few drafts there have not been any great OLs that we could have drafted. We are a young team and the smartest strategy is to draft the best player available. Drafting for need is a dangerous game, if you take best available you are constantly improving your overall talent pool. Tackles are probably the hardest players in the game to find. They had a slight chance to get Pace and they were ready to open up the wallet for him. In the end he ended up using us to get to SL to drop some fat cash. The OL will straighten itself out. You have to remember that they also switched the scheme last year, and that also clearly had an effect on their overall performance.
Looks like Carr won't be a happy camper again this year. Too bad. I don't want to have to wait a 4th year to see what the #1 overall guy in the draft can do. Nobody should. However, i have to give Carr props. He hasn't complained about the line one bit, even when the media tries to egg him on. There's alot of QB's that would have said something about their protection. If the guy does get seriously injured from a sack, their will be a media frenzy, and a few jobs in jeopardy.
I expect the line to do a better job overall this year. Second year in the system, and the coaches have a better idea of who should play where. Our running game should be much imporved as well. I hope that we might be able to pick up a TE once teams start cutting guys (like whent he Titans picked up Wychek from the Redskins). I would like to see Carr ust the TE a little more instead of dumping the ball to DD all the time. My help DD stay on the field for more games.
The Texans did virtually nothing to improve the weakest part of the team, the offensive line. I expect Carr to run for his life again this year. I have always viewed the Texans as a class organization, but, this year they had a serious brain lapse. Unless they trade for an offensive lineman, plan on another below .500 season.
DD's new contract is through 2008 worth 22 million with 8 million in guarntees. Pretty cap friendly which is great.
Anyone else watch the ABC 13 Texans program? It was called "One Step Closer", damn. That really got me pumped up! (I know it wasn't made by ch13, I was just referring to the channel that broadcasted it)
